I've been working like a dog - all of the local Squad has - because of three recent departures that left us shorthanded. As such, I have little news, which is, in itself, not irrelevant.
Right now I'm relaxing on the couch watching some interesting show about the history that shaped state boundaries. Rascal is sleeping beside me, woofing in his sleep.
I'll also mention that I'm posting from that recurrent geeky mistress of my attention, the nook. Browsing, flipped sideways for a bigger keyboard, it's not bad for typing. I'm starting to suspect that tablets and not laptops will rule domestic use soon for their convenience. It's also, along with my phone, making a strong case for touchscreens as keyboards. I suppose that once the novelty wears off of them we will see the users evaluate their effectiveness against chiclet keyboards and the like, but at least as they are currently implemented, I like them quite well.
I'll also report on an interesting new keyboard technique that appears on the new Samsung Galaxy tablets (running Android). They have a new way of typing a word called Swype, where dragging a finger from one letter to another allows you to enter a word. I suspect its usefulness is greater on the Galaxy or a phone because of their smaller screens.
