Well I haven't posted in here in a very long time. I decided it would be nice for an update into my life. I finally graduated from school in december, and got a job up in Chicago at Palwaukee airport, now referred to as Chicago Executive airport. The outfit I work for is called windy city flyers, which is a charter/flight school/flight club buisness. I am on the flight instruction part of the buisness right now, currently waiting for a good base of students. This is something that I've been struggling with, because if I were to have stayed at U of I teaching, I would have at least 4 to 5 students already. The pay at U of I is a great deal lower, and any chance for outside experience, outside of my learning enviroment, would not happen. WCF offers benefits, good pay, and great experiences that only a busy airspace such as Chicago can provide. Today I flew today to Lawrenceville IL with my first passenger, dropping him off there, and then flying back. A United flight passed 1,000 feet below us, which was an amazing experience. There really are no words to describe the views, either. Leaving Palwaukee, the city's skyline is in perfect view, with a low-level fog covering the ground, leaving only the buildings in view. Coming back into Chicago, I took the lakefront route, which also provided some interesting perspectives. The ice on the lake is breaking apart, almost resembling a puzzle. I can't say that I liked the turbulence caused by the water/land air thermals, though.
I am living at home with the family, which is great for saving money, and also putting some money into purchasing a car. My plans are to live here for awhile, and then find a roommate or two and move into an apartment in the city. Many flight instructors live on the north side, so I figure that the commute must not be too horrible for them.
I've also been doing alot of visiting of friends on the weekends. I love driving down to Pat's place for the night and going out on the town. The north side definitely provides some interesting stories to share the next day. I.e. Alan getting choked slammed by that midget. I also have gone to NIU to visit Rachel Davis and Alan. Up until this last weekend, I had never been. We split a handle of vodka, and I really didn't enjoy the morning after. But nonetheless it was a great night.
Which leads me to the lady aspect in my life. My girlfriend of 1 year and several months or so, and myself, have broken up. I really did not expect things would end up this way, but there are many many reasons why things ended. The biggest contributing factor was my moving back to Chicago to pursue the building blocks to a better career. I did this for both of us, but she doesn't seem to grasp that. Leading up to my graduation and leaving caused her to do somethings that she wasn't proud of, and didn't make me very happy. However we still talk, and I still get the boyfriend treatment, but we are not dating. I've never been so confused in life, but I am trying to keep on going, even though it's quite tough.
