I realize Maraich has been around awhile and formed some relationships that don't make much sense for people who haven't been here. So I decided to make a post going over some old stuff and what happened.
I have organized tags and memories so it isn't too hard to look up a lot of this stuff.
Where Matthias Came From
Matthias is based on the original canon of Patalliro. In volume 10 of the series Maraich becomes pregnant. He loses the baby due to some jealous exes of Bancoran's.
On DDD he made a deal with Malik to make a clone of said baby. He agreed to take care of the drifters if Malik 'revived' his son.
No drifters showed up, Malik got bored and tried to take it back.
Maraich managed to keep Malik from killing off Matthias with the help of several friends (Silver, Demyx, Xigbar...)
From there Maraich has raised Matthias like any normal child.
Maraich's Relationship with Demyx
Maraich and Demyx are not related. Around October of 2007, there was a family virus. Maraich's "family" consisted of Xigbar as his husband, Silver as deadbeat his ex-husband and Matthias' father, and Komui and Demyx as his brothers.
Maraich enjoyed having a family and asked for Demyx and Komui to keep being his brothers.
He's never had a real family before so Maraich's idea of what older brothers should do is basically to spoil him and be overprotective. Although he tries he'll never act like a real sibling would, and they're quite aware that there is no real blood relation. If anything the point is overplayed in a way that real families wouldn't bother with.
This applies to Komui as well.
Maraich's Relationship With Bancoran
When Maraich first joined he argued and broke up with Bancoran. This is normal ICly. What wasn't normal was a long period of separation. With no one playing Bancoran for Maraich to make up with him, Maraich was essentially left single for the majority of his stay at DDD. This simply never happens in canon.
Because of that he developed relationships with other people. Maraich is a loyal person and fights to stay faithful. Just because Bancoran pops back up doesn't mean he'll abandon all other relationships, or be particularly happy after so long. Right now Maraich and Bancoran continue to be at odds, especially since some of Maraich's friends aren't fond of the MI6 agent.
Maraich's Relationship With Phoenix
When Phoenix first joined the community, Maraich invited him and Edgeworth to go to the zoo with him (along with many other people). Maraich and Phoenix ended up spending most of the day together and their friendship blossomed from there.
Maraich developed a crush on Edgeworth that was eventually broken and he became very resentful towards Edgeworth, but he has always stayed friends with Phoenix. Phoenix's ability to be more forgiving of his flaws and see the good in him help them stay close.
