Doctor Who 6x04 The Doctor's Wife

May 15, 2011 00:02

There's pretty much no way I can be coherent about that episode tonight, or possibly ever, but definitely not tonight, given the amount of wine consumed during Eurovision.

Hours later, the Doctor is alone. He's finally finished the work. He puts the cover back in place, presses a button on his sonic screwdriver and the screws go down by themselves.

I am taking that as two, two War Games references in that episode, even if we didn't get to see the second one. Beautiful.

(The rest of the script that Gaiman reads at the end of the Confidential is also so, so beautiful.)

And then, very quietly, hesitantly:

DOCTOR: Are you there? Can you hear me? Silly old… Okay, the Eye of Orion or wherever we need to go.

Without him even touching the controls, the light coming through the central column burns brightly and with a crash of engines, the TARDIS is taking them somewhere which is almost definitely not the tranquil Eye of Orion.

END CREDITS.

ALL MY CREYS, AS THEY SAY.
