Cleaning poll

Dec 19, 2008 18:04

Keep in mind that I typed this poll while Yael was shouting in my ear, tugging on my hair, and generally doing whatever she could to disrupt me. Under normal circumstances, I usually leave out a very important option, so who knows what I've done this time ( Read more... )

Note: just because my house is, um, well... "clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy!" doesn't mean my professional life is the same way.

I'm fastidious and anal at work, either in a restaurant setting or at the hotel. Probably because I have no control over my house, so I transfer my frustrations to situations where I do have control -- get paid to have control.

Honestly, if I cleaned at home as much as I've done at work -- I'd have no life whatsoever. Screw that! XD

I'm cleaner in an office, but definitely not fastidious :D

Ah, I forgot that I'd intended to ask about how different you are at work. I'm somewhat cleaner and more organized at work, but I know a great many people are a *lot* more organized at work!

I'm the type of person who thrives on organized chaos, ie, systems in play in an environment of change: restaurants. Ways to do things, best practices, hourly/daily/weekly/monthly routines but every moment is different and brings a challenge. At the end of the day, things are put away, cleaned and ready for the next. I get structure to work in and an adrenaline rush from "fixing" stuff. Hm. *introspects some more*

I think that's why I love stainless steel and tile floors -- power cleaning! Gimme a hose and a floor squeegee, a wet rag and a bottle of sanitizer. It shines! :D Much easier than the tediousness of housecleaning. (Or hotel work for that matter.)

You're better than psychotherapy.

Glad to help! :D

I do *not* like organized chaos or changing environments. I like environments where I know more or less what is going to happen the next day. When an occasional challenge or crisis appears, I do enjoy dealing with it, but I don't want that to happen very often.

I am the antithesis of a manager, in terms of personality. I want to show up and have someone tell me what to do!
