The world still exists!

I know this isn't exactly a brilliant insight to the rest of you. But, unlike me, you've probably been somewhere other than the hospital or doctor's offices in the past few weeks.

So, a hearty thank you to penknife and artaxastra and their adorable VSP for taking me on a field trip to the mall. We have comicses, yes we do, and even underwear that fits under pregnant bellies. And I got to eat somewhere other than my kitchen table. Oh bliss! Guys, thanks so much for your willingness to wheel me around the mall, that really helped my sanity.

In other good news, both my OB and the high-risk specialist are very pleased with the sonograms they did yesterday and they think that the bed rest and the drugs are really working. If I go on like this, they don't see any reason why I wouldn't make it to full term. That's so great to hear, because up until now I've been resting and taking drugs and still having problems. I can handle the bed rest better knowing that it's making a substantive difference.

Now I'm going to repair to my recliner and read my comics and maybe even take a nap. ::yawns:: I didn't sleep well at all last night and I might as well take advantage of the bed rest to, well, rest.

Oh grife (yes, I've been reading too much Legion), I just got an e-mail from boss P looking for info on how much maternity leave I get so she can figure out when I'll be back. ::feels guilty:: Arg, I feel so awful not just saying "I'm not coming back after the baby's born" but Avi's right, it's not a good idea to say so now. I mean, I don't think they can take away my short-term disability, but...arg. ::still feels guilty::

Definitely time for comics and nap. Just sitting in a wheelchair was tiring!

Oh wait, before I sign off, I must tell a Ms. Grammatica story from yesterday. So, I'm filling out the paperwork at the perinatalogist's office. You know, the usual stuff, insurance info, demographics, etc. Well, I was very pleased to see that they didn't ask for information about my husband, but rather spouse or partner. Yay for blue states!

However, I had to edit the form before I could finish filling it out, because it had two section headings: "Patient Information" and "Spouses/Partners Information." Now, obviously they don't mean that I have more than one spouse or partner (that would be pretty darn enlightened even for a blue state). They meant information about my spouse or partner, so I had to put in the appropriate apostrophes because it was making my right eye twitch in pain.

This time I'm really leaving the computer, I swear. My recliner is calling my name.
