Goseiger fic noodling
I've moved on to Tensou Sentai Goseiger, which I don't love quite as much as the other super sentai seasons I've seen, but that's a pretty high bar to hit. It's kind of like saying I don't love milk chocolate quite as much as dark chocolate...
Anyway, I've just seen ep. 20, where the Goseigers find themselves baffled (Hyde's word) by "human love" and now I'm noodling around with a fic idea, but it's having problems coalescing, because I can't make up my mind how Gosei World handles love.
Yes yes, this is because the writers couldn't possibly have cared less about that, they just wanted to write a fun story, but anyway...obviously there are cultural differences between Gosei World and Earth, but what are they?
Arranged marriages? Maybe they consider sex and love two entirely different things? I mean, they clearly feel love for each other, but what could be baffling them so much?
So the story I want to write is where all the Angels are asking Nozomu (their adorable young human sidekick) about love and he's trying to help, but he's, like, 12 and everything he knows about love and sex is from watching the high school kids, a PG-13 movie, and a few books he's surreptitiously skimmed in the library. So everyone gets more and more confused, including him.
And the last part I'm having trouble with is that I want to end the story with most of the characters realizing that they love each other as friends, but that's it, except for one pairing who are all "Oh! I see!" I can't figure out who, though! There are a few pairings that don't interest me (whether or not Alata and Eri, Moune and Agri are actually siblings are just pseudo-siblings, they don't work for me) but I can't make up my mind who to pick.
Hyde/Agri is fun but I kind of like Hyde/Moune and Hyde/Eri too. I think I like the somewhat uptight Hyde, huh? Also, for my purposes in this fic, the meeting of opposites works particularly well, I think. I could have fun with Agri/Alata, also. All of them are cases of characters who would balance each other out nicely.
And now I must prepare for the Cousin Summit, as significant portions of my family show up at my house. ::sigh:: I'm kind of in the mood and kind of not. It would probably help if Avi had, y'know, gotten any sleep whatsoever last night and wasn't in a pissy mood.
