Entitled children and adults

May 03, 2013 12:04

Ugh. I was in a shopping center today that I frequently visit to grab a bite to eat, because it's between the preschool and various of my doctor's offices. Including the physical therapist, so you can imagine how often I'm there these days.

Anyway, every single goddamn time I go, I have to weave around two or three cars sitting under the "No Parking or Standing" signs that are posted every 5 feet. Wait, not cars, gigantic SUVs that I can't see around, so I have to try and pass them and then nearly get smashed by the SUVs coming the other way driving much too fast for a parking lot.

And then I come back to the shul, where I encounter kids doing things they're not supposed to on the playground, whose response to "Please stop" is to ignore me or say "Why should I?".

Then I go to Yael's school and deal with absolutely adorable kids who listen nicely and get excited that I'm coming to help them with math and say funny things and when I tell them to stop what they're doing, they actually do. Which is when I say "Oh yeah, now I remember why I have no desire to live in Bethesda or Potomac."

I swear, people make me want to scream. Coming back to the shul from physical therapy, there was an ambulance driving down the road behind me and I was trying to get out of its way, but I couldn't, because the cars to my right were merrily rolling along and ignoring the ambulance trying to get around them. When I finally stopped on the right and the ambulance went past, I watched several cars trying to pass the ambulance on the right or left. o_O Who the fuck thinks it's a good idea to pass an ambulance on either side? At all? Ever?

I'd better not see my children acting this entitled or they're going to be very very sorry.
