Was that meant to be a joke?

In fixing one part of the search engine, the search programmer managed to break another. Upon being told this, he replied that they conflict and which functionality did we want?

Um...both? We weren't asking for amusement, as it happens.

I don't think it's unreasonable for users to expect to be able to a) narrow their site-wide search down by publication year and b) use an OR search within facets when searching for scholarships, grants, and awards. (That is, if they select both "scholarships" and "internships", the search engine should know they want things tagged scholarships OR internships, rather than trying to look for things tagged as both...which don't exist.)

Not being a programmer, I couldn't figure out how these two things could conflict, but my father gave me an explanation that made a lot of sense (which I've forgotten!) but commented that while he could see how it happened, it was clearly sloppy programming. I'm shocked, shocked to learn there's been sloppy programming in this establishment. ::eyeroll::

I think I mentioned that the psychiatrist was probably right about upping my dose of Zoloft. Yeah, he was. I've been feeling much better since I went back to the higher dose. I love my magic happy pills.

Speaking of which, I must go clean up and try and gear up mentally for this week and the eight bazillion things I need to do.

Oh, wait! Before I run, I have to say the awesomest thing! Ariel not only has his second prosthetic, but he's actually been able to walk without holding onto anything! On his own two (prosthetic) feet! I've seen the video and it was awesome :) The small piece of bad news is that his doctor wants him to hold off on doing any more walking for a few weeks to allow for a bit more healing, but the end is now in sight. I will neither confirm nor deny the presence of tears in my eyes while watching the video. ::coughs::
