I've had enough.
It's kind of interesting, that I finally have had enough and decided to write on 4th of July. It might seem deliberate, but it's not. It just been one post too much for me today. What kind of post? Well, that specific one was showing a very much overweight American family eating ice cream, and said, here comes a typical American family, and 90% (!!) of them are like that. "So?" You might ask. We know obesity is a big problem in the US, and the other West is not so far behind. The problem is, the person who posted this is a Russian who has been posting offensive sayings about the West and the US for a while now, BUT came to spend his vacation of 6 weeks in the US. And this is something I have been seeing for a while now. Since the beginning of the Crimea crisis, the hatred for the West and the USA in particular, has been spilling out of Russian media as well from the private accounts of people I know. People who only a year ago have been visiting here, praising the beauty of the country and of NYC.
And this is a trend. They call the Americans and the Europeans offensive names, tell horrible stories about how the medical system there practically murdered "someone I know who knows someone, so his uncle....", or how NATO soldiers murder civilians or use chemical weapons, call the women everywhere except Russia ugly, accuse the USA and the rest of the West of trying to "bring Russia to its knees". And mind you, I am not talking about officials (as we know, the Russian parliament tries to ban all sorts of west-associated attributes, which results in some pretty ridiculous laws).
With all that, just after posting an another saying about those disgusting Americans/Europeans (they call the latter "gay-rope") with no values, they head to a vacation in Europe., or G-d forbid, USA.
I have something to say to all of you, hypocrites. We don't really care what you say about us. We don't really care if you love what is Russia becoming. We don't really give a s-t about any of that. AS LONG AS YOU LEAVE US ALONE. Do us a favor, if you hate the USA and the West so much, don't ask us to help your relatives find a job here (a real situation), don't come here so that you could write more disgusting things later. Write them on a local Russian resort (btw, there are many and they are really good, except it's probably much more cool to go abroad). Or, maybe in Crimea (which you just took from a sovereign state, and for some reason its really excellent beaches are completely empty).
Don't go to Israel/US/Europe when you need a cancer treatment or a complicated surgery. If we are so wrong for you, stay the f**k away from us. We don't invite you, we don't need your poisonous minds here. Stay in the place you see fit for your morals and values.
Oh, and mind you, we don't claim our countries are flawless, be it the US, Canada, Spain or Israel. In a normal democracy, it's ok not to like things that are going on and seek to improve them. Maybe you can try that. Because that's real patriotism.
P.S. If we go back for a moment to the post that was the last straw.. obviously, it's not 90%, that we all know. But, what if we post pictures of a drunk men lying on the street in a Russian city (not hard to find at all) and say, well, they are all like that. Or, start a discussion about the difference in average male life expectancy (Russia - 64, USA - 78, Europe - 75, Israel - 80). The thing is, we never talk about this unless provoked. Just sayin'.
