hey...nothing too exciting's been going on lately...mostly just been working. My last official day off was last week Tuesday, but I took the opportunity to work the sort at the Orchard Park store, and so my last actual day off was last week Sunday. meh. Unfortunately, my next day official day off is this coming Friday, but believe it or not, I actually a whole Friday AND Saturday off for the first time since I started work. Whatever will I do with a whole weekend off?
However, I did just make plans with my Mom to go to dinner on Friday evening at Ulrich's Tavern, the only authentic German restaurant in Buffalo. We've been trying to set a date to go out to eat there for a couple of months now, but my work schedule kept getting in the way. It's kind of funny to realize that there are more Indian restuarants in Buffalo than there are German restaurants, as Buffalo is known as a city that was founded with many German immigrants, but isn't exactly known as a large center for Indian immigrants. Come to think of it, I'm not exactly sure about my own ethnic cuisine is, outside of snitzel, spatzle, and sour kraut. Do they even eat Reuben sandwiches in Germany, or is that another American invention like pizza and general tso's chicken?
I'm also excited to start taking the new member's class at my church in sunday school on Sunday. I'm only going to become a local member and not a covenant member of the Wesleyan Church, but I'm still glad to finally publically committ to OP Wesleyan. I've always taken the idea of church membership seriously, but didn't always take the idea of staying in Buffalo seriously...but this summer I sat down and decided that OP Wesleyan is now my church home--rather than my parent's Lutheran church--and that even if I left WNY, I would come home to OP Wesleyan. I'm not entirely into the Wesleyan doctrine, and don't feel that I could committ to abstaining to alcohol, but do want to committ to supporting what I've come to feel is "my church," which is why I chose local membership over the covenant membership.
I also thinking of going to see 300 and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies this weekend. Has anybody else seen either of these movies? Would they be worth the price of admission?
