Only one?

Today was the 3rd weekly weigh in since my company started our Biggest Loser competition. Luckily, it goes until April, because I've lost one pound. One! One freaking pound! It must be a big pound because my pants are baggy and so are some of my shirts.

I've cut back on fat, no more than 15 grams a day, and lots of rice and pasta and other goodies that aren't fattening. I even gave up my sweet tea that I usually drink all day -- or night, since I am a night person. I have one, from McDonalds cos it's like crack!, and after that ice water, or ice water with one of those sugar free flavor packs added. Plain water is so boring, I need some flavor.

I also walk two or three times a night while I'm at work. On the first floor I can open the doors to this big orientation/presentation room we have and go down one hall, thru the end of the room, up the other hall and back thru the other end of the room -- one big rectangle to walk. It takes about a minute to do one lap, and that's at a brisk walk -- like the kind where you're going for the last piece of pizza on the buffet but you don't want to attract the attention of all the other hungry people in the room. ;) I started at 5 minutes and now I do 6. Which doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it's enough for my old achy joints and muscles. I'll probably bump up to 7 this week.

Fat has probably been replaced with muscle in some places, but jeez it's disheartening to have the scale show one pound for all this work. I know that's how it works tho, cos I've done it before. My only consolation is the knowledge that the people who've been losing like 5 pounds a week or more -- which is crazy -- will taper off and end up stalled by April, where as I'll start picking up -- or rather, losing more pounds as time goes by. At least... that's how it's worked before. *crosses fingers*

There's a work out place about a mile from the house that's 24/7 and is a Curves like place that I may join pretty soon. When I think I can work out more strenuously without killing myself. Curves is probably better, but their hours suck, especially for someone with my schedule. I need to be able to go work out at 2 am.

Wish me luck in getting skinny again!
