time in siberia

All in all an okay day.

Then I read the news. Not only did President TinyHands hit Syria with 60 missiles, he warned the Russians first. The Russians. God damn. They want Assad in power. So, Tiny Hands, if you tell Assad's allies to clear out because you'll be dropping a shit ton of missiles, odds are that those allies will share the info with the Syrian government. It's just logic.

It's also hypocrisy. Obama requested permission to intervene in Syria. Congress said no, screw them. Trump wants permission to bomb civilians? GO FOR IT, BRO! 'MURCA! It was everything you said you *wouldn't* do during your campaign, but since when has honesty mattered to you? Level Two of hypocrisy: "We need to save Syrian babies! Little kids aren't *really* part of the ban..." followed by killing babies through the elderly- innocents.

I'm just... How stupid can you be? The friend of my enemy is not my friend. Don't tell Russia your bloody plans (no pun intended). It's moronic. I was already jaded with all of this crap, but now...

Compare this to the me of 8 years ago. I was so enthusiastic about politics (domestic and world). I had a "Change We Need" sign pinned to my wall for years. I had hope. Now I'm afraid. We are legitimately in a cold war right now, fighting our proxies in the middle east this time instead of Asia. Unless someone else is in charge, we have no hope of nuclear proliferation. We're trying to be unilateral, isolating from NATO. The time for a unilateral world is over. Multilateralism is going to exist despite the hubris of our dear Cheeto; the Nuclear Club makes sure of that. It seems that no matter what rules are in place, this man is determined to break them. He's above the Constitution, above the Geneva Convention. It's sick narcissism and it's dangerous.

Side note & Signal boost: Your Internet history is no longer protected by the Bill of Rights (i.e., no warrant is needed to check your browser history, any gov't agency can track you whenever they feel like it, &c). I rec installing HTTPS Everywhere. It's not a total fix, but it does help with privacy.
