Other thoughts:
  • You know the problem with vidding, especially marathon vidding? You get so freaking sick of the song you're using because you have to listen to it whole, in bits and snippets, back and forth, nonstop the whole time you're working. I've never been so well acquainted with particular songs as when I use them for videos. I also wasn't aware at first that this song is 90 years long. At first I was going to trim it to fit the video, but it worked out that I had too much footage I wanted to use and I ended up just using the whole six minutes of music.

  • I stayed up all night working on this for no reason in particular. I've had the idea for this video since Common Ground first aired, but never felt like I could do the idea justice. Until now, apparently, because I had a great time working on this, and I think it turned out reasonably well for being done on a budget laptop with WMM. Never let anyone tell you that you have to produce crap videos just because all you have to work with is Windows Movie Maker - this is patently false. You may not be able to reverse video or do fancy overlays, but it's a goldmine for the amateur vidder. It's free, easy to use and there are actually a number of decent plug-ins, both free and shareware, that significantly up the quality of your output.

  • I know there are people out there who think Joe Flanigan can't act, but I'm convinced they're wrong after making this video. His (poor woobie) face after being fed on - he conveys his despair and weariness so eloquently.

  • I like the idea of Kolya and the Gang, The Band. Their Best of Kolya and the Gang CD would include such hits as "Genii Boogie", "Celebrate (Victory Over the Lanteans)", "Get Down In The Bunker" and "Cherish (The Radioactive Nuclear Material We Have)".
