So when I made my character I had no idea what I was doing. Now I really regret the stats I made since people are telling me I messed them up. I've seen warrior fighters lower leveled than me hitting monsters at 1k and the highest I hit is like 300. So I wanted to know how I could go about fixing this?

I had the exact same problem.
When I started Maple, they didn't have the walk-through's and explanation of where to distribute points like they do now. I messed up my mains stats pretty bad and didn't realize it made such a big deal until later on.
While I've continued on with my character and slowly have been fixing it's stats with the AP/SP resets in the cash shop, they cost a lot of money and each one only allows you to move ONE point to a different spot.
While you are level 40 and probably worked hard to get there, I would really suggest that you start over if you don't have the money to fix the stats. I would start the new character, and then store your items and current money and retrieve them from storage with your new character. Then that way you'll have all your equips and money from your old character.
Then, if you spend an hour or two on Maple Island completing all of the quests, you'll be lvl 10 by the time you leave there. Once you complete your warrior quests, You'll probably be lvl 13 or 14.
From there, I would go to Henesy's Party Quest until you're about lvl 20, then go to Ariant Party quest until you're lvl 30.
At level 30, you should of course LIVE in Monster Carnival PQ because it's INCREDIBLY fast experience and you should get to lvl 50 in NO TIME.
If you'd rather train than go to party quests, there are LOTS of warrior guides that will tell you the best places to train for the fastest experience.
But trust me, it's better to start over now at a lower level than struggling and making it harder for yourself to level due to your low damage. It probably took a long time to level this character simply BECAUSE you couldn't hit very hard. I bet you'll be surprised to see how fast you lvl a new character when the stats are in the right places.
I hoped this helped, and good luck!

My main is a level 132 I/L Arch Mage, but I also have a little bowman that I play on when I get bored, and I really enjoy it! They are a bit harder to level compared to mages, but a lot stronger if you can fight throught he tough levels and get to 70!
Good luck!
