Early Birthday
Today we celebrated my Mom's Birthday. She was born in Christmas Day and we never really celebrate it. But this year she is off to Seattle on Wednesday and so my sister and I decided to celebrate it before she left. She is not coming back until Jan.
I went to Phipps Bakery ( I just love it there!) and got my fave cake (Yeah, I know,"Whose birthday is it?!?!?) But it is such a good cake I thought she and my sister would like it. It is chocolate cake with fudge icing and a coconut frosting. It really is something. It is so worth buying one on special occasions.
It was a day from heLL. My sister and I had to do a whole bunch of shopping for all the Nursing Staff at the home where Dad is. It was one of those days where it seems I am just constantly on the move. Then we had to go deal with all of Dad's finances because the old Financial Advisor moved away and we need to get in touch with the new guy AND my sister needed to know what was happening with Dad's money. It's not that I don't care about things like that but it is more like I don't want to try to figure it out. Since Vanessa has been in JP, it has fallen to me and I have tried to do it but I don't think I am following to closely. Thankfully I did do the right things and everything is OK!
I did not have a whole lot so spend on mom. So I got her some books and bath oils and when I was in NYC I picked up to really great Sterling sliver pendants. One was an elephant and the other was a Tibetan Om. so my mom and sister fought over who would get each one.
All in all it was a good day. Dad was out and about and got all spiffed up for X-Mas. I got most of the things I needed to do done. And now it is just to drop mom off at the Airport and then go wild!
