The Inevitable Dance of The Christmas Party Gathering

It's funny how you don't see people for 11 months and then suddenly the blitzkrieg begins with them popping out of the woodwork/email work/ phone book with suggestions of meeting up for a bit of Christmas cheer. Not that I mind but, I know I at least do try to keep open lines of communication with them and suggest hanging out at earlier times but I think that most people see this time as a point where they must do all the socializing that they missed out during the other 11 months.

I frankly find it leaves most people a bit harried. Its like a guerrilla, war-covert accomplishments while the main event-Christmas goes on about us. You rush from one place to the next, checking off person or persons familiar on your mental checklist, saying to yourself"Well that's another person I don't have to see for another year".

I am only going to one Party this year. It is with a few friends from university-yikes thats like from 14 years ago! It's funny, they are both Japanese and it was only coinci-dink that I ended up in Japan. We were all in the same Phys. Ed (Kineseology) Programme together.

I have to admit that Christmas is creeping up on me this year. I have yet to buy one single present and I am leaning toward not getting anything at all. On the other hand, I did make a small list in case I changed my mind. Though I am leaning toward buying everyone either a gift certificate or a gift certificate.

I am meeting with a few friends from high school (19 years ago) for either coffee or lunch. But thats about it. Mom is off to Seattle so I have the house to myself for awhile. She asked me to come with her and again, I am tempted but....

Anyways...I hope YOUR shopping is stress-free!

And don't forget what the Spirit of Christmas is all about...Getting that new electronic toy.

rants, holidays, faves, friends
