Aftermath WSP: The Write-up

Sep 20, 2007 20:29

I am now writing the transcription of my hour observation in WSP. It was a strange experience. I was not sure what I was doing. Who was I supposed to be focusing on? What am I looking for? Why does that woman look so nice? (ok, that was just grrl watching!!)

I took 6 pages of notes or jottings and now I have to expand on them. I am supposed to write 5 plus pages single spaced. You have to understand that these jottings are usually one line consisting of about 5-7 words. So I basically have a skeleton of what I did. I now have to flesh it out.

I began writing at 4:45. I took an hour off and it is now 8:32. I have now written 3.5 pages, almost four and I am only on my third page of jottings. I am predicting that it will be between 8-10 pages when I am done.

It was an interesting experience. It was also really amazing because as the time went by, I was seeing patterns and I was observing a series of different events but my transcribed notes are taking these lumps and making them into a cohesive summary.

I also found out something really interesting today from one of the cohort. It is probably the most stunning thing that has happened thus far. It is really, really big news. Usually LH and I would talk about all the things that we hear or piece together but now there is no one to confide to in the cohort. This is so big I was actually tempted to call her just to tell her, I promised not to tell anyone and I wont but still...

I gotta get back to my writing.
