I have had my cousin Velini(whom I call Houdini) visiting us for the past 3 weeks. She is a nice kid, a little quiet and very polite. At first I was all stressed out because with all my things to do I knew I would not have a lot of time to spend with her.

And not only that, Mom turns into something that I just can't tolerate for too long. Auuuuuuughhhhhh!!! So I try to disappear as much as I can and as often as I can.

Anywho...Today I decided to take her to OSC and we actually had a good time. She is very nice, kinda goofy but at least she has a good head on her shoulder. There is a big gap in the ages of my cousins. There are five of us who are all 35 and older and then there is a big drop of 10 years and the rest are all aged 14- 25. I really do not know many of them except 2, now three. Frankly most of them disappoint me and makes me want to have very little to do with them. I think part of it is that they are just so provincial. It's like we go somewhere and we show them something and they will reply, 'Trinidad have dat too!' Well that's not the point... The point is to experience new things and among those new things, you will come in contact with things that are familiar.

I could go on but, it gets me all riled up when I think about some of the conversations I have had with them (and there are my uncles and aunts!) I come from a very highly educated family with a slew of them in the medical, education and avionics professions. Yet, time and time again I encounter this real 'The universe is Trinidad' mode of thinking.. Sheesh.

Anyways, the Science centre was a lot of fun! But it was packed! Jam-packed! Lot's of parents searching for ways to keep the kids entertained or sending them to Day Camps (there must have been a hundred different day camps at that place). One woman said she got there 5 minutes and was leaving due to the crush of people and the escalators were not working. But we did the place in about 3 hours. We could have stayed longer but many of the hands-on things were always being used by lil rugrats!

It was a good day and I am glad to be home. I am a bit tired and I wanna go pratice my guitar...
