Meandering Through Today

Misplaced Good Intentions
Once again, 'the best laid plans of mice and men' were for nothing. I woke up with good intentions and did not really accomplish many of them.

I Don't Know Why You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello
On the bright side. I got in contact with one of my old friends from high school who I used to hang out with during and after university but then when I was heading to Japan, we faded out. I managed to track down her mum's number (they had a strange address) so when I saw it, I recognized it instantly. I left a message on Saturday figuring that if I had the wrong number I would not hear from anyone, but I recognized the voice and thought, maybe I got it right.

Time, Keeps Flowing Like A River
Well I did not hear anything and assumed that either the length of time had been too long and we had moved too far apart or that there was no way to pass on my message. So I was really delighted to get a call this morning. We ended up chatting for about an hour. She now has 2 kids and lived out in Bolton. What a change for her. But things sound like its going well for her so I'm happy.

Take a Little Piece Of My Heart
Today was also one my my dearest friends birthday. We have drifted away now but I guess this is an 'in memory of' so that I don't forget someone who at one time was a big part of my life. So Happy birthday CJES.

Hallelujah By Leonard Cohen
Now I heard there was a sacred word
That David played and it pleased the Lord'
...
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Verb That's What Happenin'!
This evening I met up with my Japanese Language Instructor from my language class here in Toronto. I had bumped into her last week when I was on my way to meet with my old roomies. She almost did not recognize me since, I was so out of her normal context.

I had promised to show her my pics of Japan and of Kanagawa and we made arrangements to do so today. I thought I had done everything. I got out the Laptop and the extensions etc. but I completely forgot to bring the external Drive. Do'oh!

She has her family coming in from Japan because she is getting married on Monday. I was quite happy for her and made plans for us to meet with the rest of the class for dinner before I left.

So Long Marianne
Sometimes I listen to Leonard Cohen and and his music just transports me. I don't know what it is. No, that's not true. Listening to his lyrics and his wording is so beautiful. I regret that when Rose tried to introduce me to him in the 80's I shunned him. His poetry is beautiful. The lyrics evoke such powerful emotions associated with happiness. I become so different. There is a smile on my face and I think good thoughts.

Some of my fave songs are 'Hallelujah', 'So Long Marianne', 'Suzanne', 'Everybody Knows', 'First We Take Manhattan', 'The Sister's of Mercy', 'Who By Fire', 'The Partisan and...lets face it, I can listen to all' I randomly will give friends his CD. I just wish more people would give him a listen
