A Quiet Weekend

Just hung out with family this weekend.

I am trying to tie up some lose ends. I am supposed to head out to NYC in the middle of May to do some apartment hunting but as LMH suggested, it may be a bit too early, nevertheless, I have an interview in NYC also, so I have to go. I am now debating whether to take the plane there (4 hours door to door) or take the bus there (probably 12 hrs to Port Authority- but 1/2 the price).

I understand it is a bit early to look for a place for August BUT I really need to sort out as much as I can before going down there. I can't leave it all to the last minute. Lets face it, it may seem like a long time but it really isn't. There is only June and July before August comes around (stating the blindingly obvious). It is only 2 periods of time until I get the place. I assume that securing it for August would be the best idea. I am set on a few places in Manhattan and I hope that between friends and a realtor, I am able to find a place I can call home for the next 4 years. I basically want to find a place that is comfortable, safe, clean and in a good neighbourhood that is close to subway (though lets face it- in NYC, transit is very good)

You know, thinking in terms of 2 months... I am realizing how soon everything is happening! Yikes! (Deep Breathly Deep Breathly-my way of saying the opposite) I think that in the next week, I am going to have to put together everything that needs to be done.

Foremost is to tackle the basement where I have about 30 boxes and try to get rid of at least 1/3 of that. However, I think it is an easy task because I will be throwing away a lot of Teaching materials that I have not used in 6 years and I cannot for-see using ever again. But I will keep some of the documents that were important so I will not throw out all my educational materials. for some strange reason, I plan to hang on to a few textbooks on Canadian history.
