Chinen attacks Yamada with a hug and Yamada recriprocates, wrapping his arms around Chinen's smaller body and they try walking around like that. Passers-by coo at them, whispering how cute they are and Chinen preens at the attention. Yamada tries to ignore Okamoto and Nakajima on the other side of the room, lost in their own world. He tries to unhear the sound of his heart breaking every time he hears muffled laughter. He tries to concentrate on Chinen, Chinen's smile, Chinen's chatter but it doesn't feel the same. He feels his heart drawn to the other side of the room and he can't believe that after all these years, he's still the fool. Chinen won't make up for the loss of Nakajima, no one ever will.
