Ну, в Википедии написано, что
"Mesoamericans had used stabilized rubber for balls and other objects as early as 1600 BC".
Получается, что ко времени создания рисунка резина была известна около 3000 лет

У Вейдитца написано "aufgeblassen". Может в 16 веке это слово имело несколько иное значение, не знаю.
Хотя, насколько мы понимаем технологию, это конечно не мяч, а скорее клубок.
