it's a matter of focus

The first day of October.  I always feel good this time of year.  It makes me feel more alive to see the world succumb to its annual death.  Cider houses nestled in colorful corners of hillsides puff defiantly warm smoke into the chill air and hint of humidity tastes all the sweeter for it.  Autumn is a transition.  It doesn't have the lazy flow of summer or the timeless still of winter.  There's a palpable sense of motion - a drive through dwindling time to the cryptlike clutch of snowy winter.  Autumn is the only season that really reflects the planetary motion it's a result of.  This earth hurtling around the sun completing a journey of millions of miles at an unbelievable, imperceptible speed.  The season acts similarly.  The seconds emcompass an eternity but the calculating creep is an invisible undercurrent in a placcid stream.  The days are a beautiful dance of duality.  I love autumn.
