My mother's birthday was yesterday. Typically, we would all pile into the car and go out to dinner, talking about things that went on in her life, or what was happening now. Of course, all of that has changed.
Yesterday was especially poignant, as I went to my son's fall choir concert. My mother and I always went to his choir concerts together, and in fact, she went to my choir concert only days before her death. Listening to the other families talk about savings seats for "grandma" and "great-grandma" was hard. Not impossible, since I'm here, but pretty difficult. What was uplifting was listening to the choir sing, and remembering how much she enjoyed hearing the sound the boys made. Had she heard them yesterday, she would have been proud. I know I was.
But on the plus side, after we arrived home we had company, feasted on grilled chicken and such and watched the Eagles win! Good times and games were had by all. ^_^
