A friend of mine told me about a real life instance of that happening in DC. The woman had apparently gone insane and thought her children were possessed. I don't blame Tsutsumi and Takagi for getting sick.

I believe it. This woman is a combo of that sort of thing and one other thing (too tired to find the proper term. Andrea Yates-esque).
I don't blame them either. I just wanted to find out what bodies would smell like after a few weeks and dicovered that they could liquify.

Okay, psycho-lady gave me shivers, even though I suspected something like that was going to come up at the first mention of a weird smell. I really liked the inserts of the woman's tip call on the way to the door. Good job, once again.

I'm glad you liked the insertion of the tip. I rather like the idea myself. :) I thought it made good foreshadowing.

I knew from the smell part that this was coming >.<

True story: About two years ago, an elderly man living 4 apartments down from me passed away in his apartment over New Year's weekend. He didn't have any family that we know of, so nobody knew he had died until the exterminators made their rounds later that week.

He'd been dead about two days when they found him. It took six weeks to get the smell completely out of the building.

I can only BEGIN to imagine this particula....excuse me. *runs off to be sick*

Okay, I did a better job than I thought. At least I know I got that information correct. And I'll take your word on the smell. Do I need to emphasis the warning at the beginning of the chapter? I thought that it might be kind of a gross one.
