The two Gryffindor's had been practicing on the pitch when Katie made a bad pass. The quaffle went missing quickly in the thick white snow and the two had to go looking on foot for it. IT had bounced and rolled all the way into the forest ( ... )

Miles was reaching for his wand when he realized it was just two Gryffindor girls. Blech.

"Someone who extremely dislikes having frozen ice balls shot at his face," he finally replied, keeping his fingers secured around his wand but not drawing it out of pocket.

Katie laughed instantly and couldn't keep it in. She covered her mouth but the distinct shaking of her shoulders were just as obvious.

Rolling her eyes Angelina sighed before scratching her head a little nervously.
"Sorry," She recognized the voice and by the amount of Katie's stiffled laughter so did her fellow Gryffindor. Miles Bletchley. Slytherin. She'd never really had a bad encounter with him (discounting quidditch of course) but the same could be said for a good one.
"Didn't see-well I saw you but didn't know who you, uh, were. Thought you were Katie." Looking back to her friend Katie laughed again.

"Wot? Cause you think he looks like a girl?" She asked.
"Maybe it's cuz you look like a boy!" Angie countered which consisted of another snowball sent her way.

Trying to keep a somewhat serious face Angie looked to Miles and shrugged.
"Couldn't be that bad. Not like snow hurts or anything."

"Hurt or not, it's fucking freezing and I would prefer not to have the snow plastered against my cheek and melting down my shirt." Honestly, he could feel the cold water running down his back and it was not helping him warm up in the least.

"And if you're going to laugh, Miss Johnson, you might as well let it out. Holding yourself serious like that makes you look constipated."

She laughed without holding it back.

"Ohh lighten up Blechley!" Angie countered but Katie called from where she was, lifting the snow covered quaffle.

"Forget it Ange, he probably doesn't know how! Besides I found it." The barrier of houses was a tough one to top. If Angie hadn't gotten to know Riley so well she might have been as dismissive as Katie and let the fact that he was Slytherin get in the way.
But she did know Riley. She wasn't easily subdued by stereotypes and smiled at the perturbed sixth year boy.

"You should try laughing and having a little fun yourself." Angie said while picking up some more snow and forming a nice snowball in her cold bare hands. "Or can you not handle getting a little wet?"

"Angie seriously! Come on!" Katie yelled to Angie who started to back slowly towards her fellow Gryffie. She was offering Miles a chance to have a little fun, to be a little human around someone other than his close knit friends.
Maybe, just maybe, he'd be a little open minded.

Miles watched the snowball in Angela's hands. He did not in the least trust her with it. His hand tightened more around his wand.

"I can handle getting wet, just a matter of how and with whom."

"Oh well then," Rolling her eyes she continued to perfect the snowball. "I guess we Gryffindor's are not the kind of company for fun then are we?"

"Angelina!" Katie called again which prompted the 7th year to spin around and throw the snowball at Katie. It hit her in the shoulder and made Katie stumble back.

"Guess it's just us then Katie!" Angie said bending to scopp more snow while Katie tossed the quaffle to the ground and started to make her own snowball.

"Could have been fun Bletchley." She was walking to a tree, hiding behind it as Katie through a few snowballs in her direction.
"You should really work on removing that stick from your ass." She spoke while throwing and dodging snowballs from Katie, only interrupted by 'You're Dead Johnson!' 'stop hiding' and other teasing remarks.

"You're correct about the Gryffindor part, though I guess we'll never find out if it could have been fun or not." He started backing away, out of the line of fire. "Though if you're ever interested, I do know a form of fun that is much warmer than this game, and requires much less clothing."

"Ha ha Very funny. How originally witty of you." She said with seething sarcasm as a snowball hit the tree she was hiding behind.
Spinning and throwing another snowball Angie caught Katie in the chest and her friend swore.

"Okay! I'm done! You're hiding and it's no fun Ange. I give in! I'm getting out of the cold." Katie was caving and Angie was out her fun snowball fight.

"Well that sucks." Watching Katie start to make her way back to their brooms with the quaffle Angie picked at a branch at a tree.
"This is not a good example of how fun we can be!" Angie said defensively to Miles as she started to trek after Katie.
"It's just HER."
"I'm FUN!" Katie called back over her shoulder but she already had quite a bit of distance on Angelina.

"Admittedly, Bell must have more sense than yourself if she's the one wanting warmth," he pointed out, keeping pace with Angelina, though not necessarily walking next to her.

"More sense but more boring. Much like yourself." A half compliment half insult geared at both, Angie was glad Katie was out of earshot.

Trudging through the snow something bothered her as she moved on, a question she thought of asking but wasn't really sure if she should.
Angie took a deep breath and thought and thought before speaking, choosing her words very carefully.

"You're friends with O'Dannihugh, right?" It was more a question than a statement. Angie couldn't just ask him if he knew she and Riley were friends so she had to go about it a different way. His answer would tell her if she could continue talking or not. It wasn't giving anything away. She was sure of that. Or at least hoped.

He nodded once. "Best friends. I know everything about him." Including Riley's sort-of-friendship with Angelina, though it was never spoken between the two boys.

"Ah." Knows everything. That was sort of the answer she was looking for but it wasn't really enough. Angie rubbed the back of her head nervously before continuing in a sort of silence for a bit.

"How can you be sure you know everything about a person?" It was a round about way, again, of getting information. She knew there were things she kept from her friends, maybe Riley was the same? Part of her wanted to know what kind of a person he was with those he'd known for a long time.

"He's my best friend," he said again, as if that was enough (and to him it was).

"'Kay." She answered and felt that she didn't really want to push it. Reaching the place where her broom was Angie scooped it up and tucked it under her arm and put her hands back in her pockets to warm up.

The tree line was splitting up ahead and the awkward silence was just that. Awkward.
"Well it's been great not really talking to you Bletchley." Angie could see Katie trudging through the snow up ahead, the wind having picked up a bit.
"Sorry again for hitting you though. With the snowball."

"No need to apologize, Miss Johnson," he dismissed. "Though you have left me curious as to why you are concerned about O'Dannihugh but have not asked what you really want to know."
