So, I got a job as of today, to pay my bills... my bills now being my car insurance. It'll also be good for saving up, which was one of my main goals in coming home. It's at Suncoast Video, so I'll essentially be upselling DVDs I'd rather be buying myself. Ah well, the store discount should rock. I start a week from today, so yay! Cashflow!
On the creative front, Nikki and I have made some amazing progress in our script. She finally managed to divorce herself from the actual events and just go with what serves the best story. So, a lot of our original outline got tossed. We restructured the outline and found our character throughline, which basically means the arc of the character went from muddy to razor sharp. At this rate, the script (which is still untitled. Nikki likes "Full Circle" but I think it's too generic a title.) should be done within a few months. After that, it gets looked over by Nikki's friend Bill, who's a script doctor. Bill's agent will pretty much read anything Bill gives him, and Bill was impressed by our rough outline, so this is all starting to look pretty damn good.
In other creative news, I've been talking to a burgeoning director/producer who's looking to produce an ongoing series of 3-5 minute short films, like a series of webisodes, but with original material. He's looking for something quirky and cultish that a college and 20-something audience could latch onto. And he's tapped me to write it. So, we could be looking at a preliminary version of "Five to Six" as well as some other projects. More to come on that.
Rory and I have been talking back and forth, mostly just shooting the breeze about television, a rather safe subject at this point. I'm really happy about that. Serisously. More than I can say.
So, was coming home the right move for me. Right about now, I'd have to give that a hearty "hell yes."
