A guy came in complaining that he didn't get to vote like he wanted to. I think he was marked as an absentee voter in the voter list, which meant he had to vote provisional. Some people request ballots but don't send them in so they come in person. Seems he had sent his in, but said he only got to vote on the issues. There were three ballots available: Republican, Democrat, and Issues-only (no independent). He was insistent that he get to vote for the candidates, so we made a note as to why he was voting twice. Chances are good it won't count.
He kept ranting (preventing me from explaining anything) about how the "man" was trying to keep him from voting. I think everyone got a form to order an absentee ballot. He probably sent it in without marking a party. It would have been very easy to toss the ballot he received and show up and vote normally.
I'm not sure how you can help people to vote who don't have a clue. The BOE bends over backwards to ensure everyone can vote. This won't be popular, but I'm not sure I want them voting.
