Our island
Shall remain uncharted,
Undisturbed.
I do not want their fingers in our sand.
I do not want them stringing necklaces
From the shells of our life.
I do not want tents
Folded over our happiness.
Intrusion or invasion,
Or the introduction of new life.
What I want is us,
In all of our splendid, aching places.
the humility of our days,
Lived as we really are.
I want all the plagues
To find their way to the stars.
I want to share fire with only you,
To drink it from your skin,
To know my heart is pure.
I want your mouth to drown out
My name,
Like raindrops in a puddle,
Like a world we've finally hushed.
I want us,
To sing softly to each other again,
Together.
Those constellations in your eyes,
Your smile spilling our like an ocean.
No trespassing or taking space here.
Only you and I together,
On the sacred cusp of only us.
A life spent in the greenery of seclusion,
Uninhabited by their laws.
Our tribe
Being you and I together.
Our chapel,
The wild and forgotten places,
Where they have never learned to live.
Just you and I together,
Fleeting figures in the moonlight.
You and I together,
Gone away from all this.
