In Character Information

character name: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Fandom: Assassin's Creed (Brotherhood)
Timeline: Following recruitment of the first two apprentices in Sequence 4.
character's age: Forty one, I think? It's not very specific on what year Sequence 4 is in...

powers, skills, pets and equipment:

Power - Ezio can essentially "see" different categories of people and things; enemies are have a red aura, allies are blue, targets are gold, and white for informants and hiding places. It also reveals the nature of certain things to him, such the location of hidden doors, which keys are used on what locks, et cetera. It is similar to being able to see auras and requires a modicum of concentration on Ezio’s part to activate, though not enough to noticeably effect his behavior. When he uses it, he forfeits some of his overall ability to see clearly, as non-significant people and things are colorless and shadowed. It is difficult to see the terrain except in full sunlight, but darkness emphasizes the location of things highlighted by the Eagle Vision.

Skills - Knowing how to kill you with just about anything ever (like BROOMS), mad parkour skills, romancing women, and uhh, exploiting the labors of those living on his estate/renting his properties.

Equipment - One bracer with the hidden blade, a poison blade, and a hidden gun attachment, the matching spaulder, his Assassin robes and cape, sturdy boots, some medicine, throwing knives, a dagger, and a common sword. Also a bag of an undisclosed amount of gold coins, because he's a rich mofo like that.

canon history:
Ezio's page at the Assassin's Creed Wikia.

Ezio was the second son of a Florentine nobleman. He was born in 1459, and lived a wonderful life as a rich teenager, getting into fights, romancing women, running around on rooftops with his bro, and running errands for his family until one day, it all went to shit, and his dad and brothers got arrested then subsequently executed. Ezio, being an angry and vengeful young man, went and hid his mom and sister in a brothel and scampered off to assassinate the man who was directly responsible for his family's death. Equipped with a stabby thing on his wrist and sneaking skills he learned from the local hookers, he kills the man and flees for the countryside with his mother and sister.

On their way, they get attacked by this jerkface Ezio knew back in Florence and his posse of hooligans, but before there's any serious damage, Ezio's Uncle Mario intervenes and whisks them away to safety at his villa. Uncle Mario teaches him how to fight better and reveals that he is descended from a long line of assassins, and how being an assassin is a prestigious line of work, with a long and glorious tradition. Ezio was unconvinced, and intended on continuing with his plan to travel to spain with his family, until he had a sudden change of heart and decided to go help Uncle Mario with protecting the villa from the jerkface from earlier (since it was technically Ezio's fault that he was in the area anyway).

So they invade San Gimignano, and Ezio begins his long quest of killing the Templars behind his father and brothers' killings, which starts with him routing the Pazzi conspiracy in Florence, then going all around Tuscany killing the conspirator. After killing the last of them (and having a nasty run in with the boss Templar, Rodrigo Borgia), he learns that the Templars have plans in Venice. Surprise, his Renaissance Equivalent of Q, Leonardo da Vinci, is heading there as well, so Ezio travels with him and macks on this married lady on the way.

On his tour of the city, he conveniently discovers that the man responsible for equipping the Pazzi is being a tyrannical douche about the Venetian markets. He teams up with the thieves guild and spends the next four years killing the first man and eventually the rest of the Venetian Templars (which required a good bit of hooliganism during Carnivale and lots of hookers), but unfortunately learned too late that taking over Venice wasn't their main goal. Their real goal is to get the Apple of Eden (which appeared in the original Assassin's Creed), and Ezio has to grump around for the next two years because he failed to stop them from leaving.

When the Templar ship returns, he intercepts and impersonates the guard delivering the Apple to Boss Templar and there's this massive throw down, and despite having a bunch of Assassin allies, the creep escapes. It is revealed that the "Prophet" who can open "the Vault" is Ezio. He is then finally formally inducted into the Brotherhood and the game jumps to 1499, following some adventures in Spain and some shenanigans in Forli and Florence over the Apple. Ezio, now 40, heads to Rome to kill Boss Templar, aka THE POPE (Recently elected so he could take the Staff of Eden), sneaks into the Vatican, and has a fistfight with the pope. He defeats Rodrigo, but does not kill him, and uses the Apple and the Staff of Eden to enter the Vault, where he's told by this random sparkly ladies about the world ending and all that good stuff, but it's meant for someone else to see through his DNA, so it's not that important.

Upon exiting the Vault, he realizes that Boss Templar is gone, proceeds to flee Rome with Uncle Mario (still in possession of the Apple). He returns to Monteriggioni, intending on relaxing, sleeping around, and taking baths with beautiful women, but then Cesare Borgia attacked with like, an ENTIRE ARMY, kidnapped his beautiful woman, killed his uncle, destroyed his home, stole the Apple, and forced Ezio to flee with his mother and sister. Wounded in the conflict and bleeding to death, he asks for a horse and starts to ride to Rome, because that's totally a smart thing to do, but passes out from bloodloss before he gets particularly far.

He wakes up in Rome, gets some painkillers, and begins another quest, this time to liberate Rome and all of Italy from the Borgia's corrupt grip. He buys a brothel, some barracks for his mercenaries, and sets up his information network, then proceeds to set buildings on fire and collect apprentices. He manages to liberate Rome and retrieve the Apple, and then hides it under the Colosseum. But that's not when he's from.

personality:
Ezio is generally cheerful and laid back. He is polite to family members and friends (though as the more familiar you are, the more he is liable to tease) and appropriately abrasive to his enemies. He is quick to laugh and quick to anger. Prior to the execution of his father and brothers, he had a large group of friends and a reputation for frequently gallivanting about with the ladies. Even now, all these years later, it is still easy for people (especially women) to like him. Chances are, if he’s not there to kill you/your friends/your family and you aren’t insulted by his womanizing ways, you’ll get along well. He flirts as easily as he breathes, with almost every beautiful woman ever.

He does not back down from a challenge, even a friendly one, and always puts full effort into winning; when he does so, he keeps gloating to a minimum and readily moves on to the next topic. If you’re an asshole, though, he’ll probably make some remark about your sister or your mother. Ezio will also willingly assist those who ask if the tasks are sufficiently manly, like beating up unfaithful husbands, mad rooftop dashes to deliver letters, or killing tyrants.

Ezio the Assassin is stern and businesslike, though he will still make rakish remarks to his contractors when time allows it. The driving force behind Ezio as an assassin was initially anger and revenge for his father and brothers’ killing, however now he rarely lets his emotions get the better of him. He has seen the corruption and immorality of those in power, who are usually Templar, and tries to establish the Assassin values of free choice, justice, and all that good stuff. He says a small prayer as he shuts the eyes of his targets, because Mario taught him when he was a wee little Assassin that he must respect those he kills. In his mind, respect is what keeps him from becoming like the Templars; it is acknowledgment of his cause and a reminder of why he is fighting. He also fights for his idea of honor and that honor cannot be compromised by any imaginable means, as he defines himself as an Assassin and Ezio with it.

Killing in and of itself is not something he takes pride in; it is simply something he must do. Ezio's targets in ACII were those who were involved in the betrayal of his family and those who served them. Now, it is the Borgia and their associates who rule Rome with an authoritarian grip, soldiers included, though he is equally likely to spare them because of a lack of time/resources and their lower levels of involvement. He does not believe in making his enemy suffer, so he kills them as quickly as possible whenever the situation allows it. He never kills civilians, though criminals that try to steal from him are liable to have lethal force used against them.

He was raised Catholic, though is now an atheist; his uncle Mario has already professed to being one when he was younger, and he grew out of organized religion as he learned more of the faults of the "opiate of the masses," as Marx so put it. Before, it was only mildly important-for example, he'd skip Mass to see a girl, but tried not to make a habit of it, partially because his mother wouldn’t like it and his father would lecture him. His trust in the Church itself is incredibly slim, having seen corruption run rampart through the ranks, especially in the upper echelons. He is tolerant and indifferent to those of different beliefs, though there can be some snarky remarks about heretics or something, but that is what you get from a guy from in 15th century Italy.

Altruism from anyone but himself is suspicious, and while he gives help freely, he is also incredibly wary of accepting it from anyone but his closest friends and family. His trust is earned through actions alone, and once you have it, you can be assured it will be kept. He values honor, and if a promise is elicited from him, he will fulfill it to the best of his abilities. His greatest fear is that he will not be able to protect his mother and sister, now that his father and Federico are gone. Ezio is also not above lying, though he prefers to just omit undesirable information altogether.

why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? Because Ezio's sense of style is just as ornate-- I mean! Ezio's a Master Assassin, so he'd have no trouble defending himself. Plus! Since... I feel like cars aren't that frequent here, it'd be a little bit less of a culture shock and the, uh, use of horses means there's more likely to be convenient wagons of hay and stuff. Also, crowds of unnamed Scorched and citizens make sneakin' easier!

Network Post Sample:

Signorina, I have retrieved the... item we discussed. Perhaps we can arrange a time and place for me to return it to you? I would prefer delivering it directly over simply leaving it somewhere for it to be stolen again.

[ succint and to the point, the way he prefers all communication when it is not-face to face. ]

Third Person Sample:
It was long ago when he decided that nights like these were the best for rooftops, he recalls. The rain washed the stench of the city-- Florence then, Rome now-- away in the morning and the sun leeched the rain and risk from the roof tiles that afternoon, so he climbs and chases shadows in among the steeples and ruins. Ezio revels in the freedom and fresh air as much as he can with blood (Templar or not) on his hands until an sentry’s cry and the small squad of guards accompanying him force him down onto the street. Their shouts follow him into the narrow thoroughfare and he notes with displeasure that they are a persistent squadron, probably full of rookies that do not know of the danger of engaging him face-to-face. The crowd around him mutters in discontent, assassino this, Borgia that, and he begins to navigates his way towards the safety of one of the many alleys-

Too late, they’ve spotted him again. A crossbow bolt sinks into the crate by his shoulder and he decides to finally throw caution to the wind and just start running. He takes off across the square, careening around the corner of the cathedral and tailed by the shouts of the city guard. It was one thing in Florence, where they would have given only a halfhearted chase at the sight of the Medici crest, but the Borgia's tower still looms in the distance to the east. He knows what his destination should be, but-he vaults over a stack of barrels to avoid knocking over the dottore’s cart-it would be nice to once again have the anonymity he had back in January.

All of Claudia's girls in the district know him by now-by hood or coin or something else that his sister gives him frowns for, and he responds to with his own displeased looks-so when he slows and slips into the midst of the group of women, he is greeted with smiles and dainty fingers that know to avoid his belt and bracer and whispers of, "Ser Ezio!" Gold changes hands, their fans flutter, silk whispers and the pair of brutes that round the corner are promptly reminded that there are more enjoyable things to do than chase a man who will most likely kill you.

The remaining courtesans remain in step as he moves farther and farther away from the ruckus he has created, and he offers them smiles (in addition to the coin already jingling in the leader’s purse). Of all the factions he employs here in Roma, the courtesans are the most expensive, but the lighter purse also means less unnecessary blood on the street. He does not mind as long as his target is dead come morning, and knows the people think better of him for it. Il Carnefuchi was the first in this ever-growing list; even separate from the one before the Incident, it is impressive.

Anything else? Nnnnno?
