Weekend update
Time for another update...
This weekend was definitely a busy one. Saturday Carrie came down and we went to lunch and hung out. I haven't really gotten the chance to talk or catch up with her since I left for basic training so that was nice. Then I had a gig with my unit and we opened up for Lee Greenwood at Kreitzberg Arena. So I put on my army dress blues and headed down there to meet up with my unit. We hung around and then we played what we had to and then I stayed for the concert. We all had staff passes so we got to chill in the penalty boxes which were pretty close to the stage. Then after the concert was over I said bye to everyone and headed up to my barracks and played some games.
Yesterday was a pretty uneventful day but a busy one. I had to go to Walmart to pick up a bunch of stuff that I needed. I ran into Wood, a band junior, there so we hung out and went to get some food afterwards. Came back to the room and tried to clean up everything. I have so much stuff that I don't have room for everything. My dirty laundry accumulates so much more quickly than I ever remember it doing. So that is on my to do list for tomorrow.
Today I had my Roman History Mid-term! I can't believe we had a mid-term already, it's not even october yet!!
So I guess the biggest/most important thing that has happened is that I think I have finally solidified what exactly I want to do with my life. So here it goes...
-Graduate from Norwich in 2008
-Apply and go to OCS (Officer Candidate School)
-Branch infantry and go to IOBC (Infantry Officer Basic Course)
----This now makes me an officer in the New Jersey Army National Guard----
-Volunteer for OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan) and OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom)
-Work on getting my Masters degree in some form of History probably at Rutgers or UVM
-Start teaching high school history
-Tech at a local high school band as a brass tech
-Begin marching senior drum corps which I think I'll do Bushwackers
-All during this try and find the girl of my dreams and marry her haha
Of course this could all change based on school, jobs, and the like but as of right now this is what I want to do.
I've been told that Twp wants to put me on the High School's Hall of Honor for graduates who are serving in the military. So I have to send them a picture of me in my uniform and a short bio so that they can put it up in D Hall. I'm gonna try to lose a bunch more weight before I take that picture because it's going to be up there for a long time and I'll be damned if I'm remember as some fat kid lol.
So I've been trying to get back in touch with some old friends from high school and such. It's pretty funny that most of them have been pretty nice to me except a very select few. I wonder what I did to them to just ignore. I'm genuinely curious. Hopefully it wasn't because I did anything bad to them. I guess I'll never know since they just ignore me lol.
