This must be happening to everyone I believe...Songs associated with people, places, events etc...
Like for me, "Jadoo Teri Nazar" from "Dar" always reminds me of my X standard when we would be happily solving problems while attending our maths tuition and someone would play this song at full volume in the neighborhood...
Then there is this "Aa bhi jaa" song from the movie Sur which was released in the year our family went to Pune-Mahabaleshwar. So whenever I hear this song, I am transported to that wonderful place. Or the "Mundia to bach ke" song reminds me of the college fest at IIPS where I was teaching and I danced with everyone that day on this song!
Thought of this post when I was listening to the songs of Metro which always remind me of the Kharghar- Bandra trips of the recent times when I played some of its songs in loop...I have observed that I don't get the same enjoyment when I listen to "Baatein Ankahee - revisited" in the slow moving traffic of Bangalore...The song seems to be MADE for Mumbai! Then the Celine Dion song "I'm alive" reminds me of SV Road trips between Juhu-Bandra...I feel as if I am actually moving on that road!
I was trying to find a song for Bangalore all these days...I guess "Malharwari" (A Marathi folk song) would be the one...though I wonder whats in this song that makes me feel alive even as I am passing through that painfully slow moving traffic of Hosur Road or BTM Layout! Actually it fits well even in the new route that passes through lush green villages!
