1)an uncaging laser
2)freeze-fracture replica labeling
use the laser to uncage the glutamate derived currents,activating the AMPA receptors. Now use stationary fluctuation analysis to measure the number of channels opened by the laser. use freeze-fracture replic labeling anylasis on the AMPA particles to calculate the synaptic receptor density.
