Case 196

Jul 16, 2011 18:32

[It's a real slow night at the bar...not at the casino, everybody is gambling away their fortunes, and Hanna loves to watch them, but as far as getting drinks goes? Surprisingly few takers tonight.

So, Hanna's bored.]

Man, what is with these people tonight...usually they love to come and get drunk...

[SIIIGH.]Ah well. The customers'll come ( Read more... )

casino life, alcohol solves everything, curse, back to business, bartender, sin city, curse: affected, juggling, city wide curse, bored

If I buy a drink, can I hide for a bit?

Sure, but you gotta explain why.

Okay, I'll have whatever this guy [He gestures to the guy to his left.] had. Doesn't matter.

Aaaaaaaand turns out some people don't enjoy telepathy when you use it to win money. I doubt if he knows anything beyond that he was at a slight disadvantage.

[He nods and fixes up a drink (the guy next to the Doc had a banana daqueri), tossing it to the Doctor.]

I can see why some people wouldn't exactly like that. It's both cheating and an invasion of privacy, nice job!

Okay, you need to hide? You can hide behind the bar if you want. I'll cover for ya.

[Banana! He is very pleased. And pays for it. Probably with the money from the person he's hiding from.]

Thank you! It's just a little light telepathy; not like I saw their darkest desires or anything.

Really? [He was mostly just hoping for facing the bar and attempting to not look like a tall skinny guy in a long, easily distinguishable coat. But he goes and hides accordingly.] So how's the night been? Anything interesting?

Still, can't imagine that they like being poked around in the brain...

[Hanna shrugs and grins.]

Not much yet. One guy here earlier was complaining about how his friends dragged him here against his will. Told him to get them wasted and drag them back out of here against their will. Oh, and Toph wants me to practice the juggling some more, so I might do that.

This has honestly been one of the more interesting points of the night so far.

Well. Probably. Yeah.

What were you juggling? Juggling sounds fun. I'm not sure I have the coordination for it, really.

Has it? Well, I can be a pretty interesting person, so. What is this? This is good. I wish my night were a little bit less interesting, although I really sort of don't, because then it'd be a tad boring. Which is no fun.

I was gonna juggle some glasses...or bottles. I sometimes juggle the fruit that we use for the fruity drinks. I'm getting better at it, but I'm not perfect yet.

Boring is...well, boring. I must admit, though, being able to poke into the minds of the people you're gambling with must make the gambling part a bit less fun. Or not, I don't know. I'm probably one of the 4 people in Vegas who doesn't gamble.

Fruit seems like a better choice to juggle anyway, what with a great deal of it being round and juggleable.

It's not particularly a trick I use when gambling since you start getting noticeable when you're doing it to a group of people. Works a lot better one on one. Gambling... Depends on the person, I suppose. And the people you're doing it to. ..With. Any particular reason?

That's what I was thinking! The boss doesn't want me damaging the drink supplies, which is weird because he's fine with me and the shot glasses...

Not enough money to get hooked into it. Culinary student. The student part means zero funds for anything but the essentials...but that's cool.

Well presumably you're not juggling the shot glasses when they're full. Or on fire. Or both. That would be a trick.

Ahhhh, right, right. Culinary student though! Bet you enjoy Vegas, what with all these five-star little... shops. Restaurants! How do they work out for you? Learn anything eating out?

Haha, if I could juggle stuff on fire, that would be sooo cool. Knowing me, though, I'd burn off my eyebrows.

Oh yeah, I love it here! Tons of great places for food. I always make sure to take notes on what I liked and what I'd improve on...then I go home and try to figure out how I'd make those improvements!

Burn of your eyebrows... Could be a look. Who knows. That one dude with no - or was it a lady? - with no eyebrows seems to be doing okay. Whoever they are. [He's finished his drink by now and reaches up to set it on the bar above and behind his head where he's leaning against it.] Do you mind if I have another one of those? Whoever came up with those is a genius.

Sounds like a smart student. Getting the most out of everything rather than just getting the things that you're supposed to be getting things from. Best way to learn, really: experience.
