The Drabble Challenge Title: Pot Shots
Rating: PG
Prompt: How?
Pooch grabbed his arm, pulled him up and quickly got an arm underneath his shoulders to help him stand.
“Seriously?”
“What?” Clay asked, leaning on his good leg.
“She’s married and a firearms expert. You tried to have a one night stand with a married firearms expert.”
“Hey, I didn’t think she would shoot me.”
“Oh, oh, of course she wouldn’t shoot you. She just betrayed her marriage because you look good in a Blues Brothers suit.” Pooch shook his head and started helping him limp towards the hotel exit.
Clay had to grit his teeth against the pain but he could feel the exasperated surprise coming of Pooch in heavy waves. When they managed to get him into the back of the van, Pooch shook his head at him.
“This is because you’re married isn’t it?”
“No, Colonel, this is because you get into more trouble than Jensen.” And Pooch slammed the door closed.

Title: Tap That
Rating: PG
Prompt: Parents
“I think your mother just slapped Cougar’s ass,” Clay said.
Pooch managed to tear his eyes away from Jolene to the dance floor where Jensen was making a fool of himself with a bride’s maid and Cougar was watching a woman who definitely bore a family resemblance to Pooch walking away from him cackling to a table of women around the same age also cackling.
“Mom!” Pooch ran a hand over his face. “Yeah, uh, she’s got a thing for Latin men. Shit, he’s going to kill me for not warning him.”
He had been good the whole wedding. He hadn’t given the death glare to any of Jolene’s family members that looked like they disapproved. His best man’s speech had been clean of any embarrassing stories and top secret information. He hadn’t even given Jensen shit for tearing up during the ceremony, though Roque had that covered.
Right now though, he just had to laugh.

Title: How It Is
Rating: PG
Prompt: Fight
“It’s just the pressure getting to him.”
Clay looked up at Pooch, glaring only slightly before he looked back down at the plan. “We’ve been under more pressure before.”
The fight with Roque was still crawling under his skin, leaving him unsettled. He was always unsettled when things were wrong with his team and even though he tried to deny it something was really wrong.
“Yeah, but we always have the army backing us up. We’re just leaning on Aisha for this one.”
“Aisha didn’t betray us.”
“Clay…”
“What?” he snapped, now giving Pooch a full glare.
Pooch held up his hands. “I just wanted to let you know, the rest of us we’re with you. You’re still our Colonel. Alright?”
He nodded.

Title: I.O.U.
Rating: R
Prompt: Rescue
Things were going from bad to worse. The alarms were going full blast and the guards were scrambling to cover every exit. Spot lights and fucking attack dogs meant their chances of escaping on foot without anyone noticing were slim to fucking none. They had a good cover here, tucked between two buildings but it wouldn’t last long. Someone was going to find them and then things would get really ugly.
“You hear that?” Roque said from behind him. Clay couldn’t hear anything over the sirens and shook his head. Roque had some damn good hearing for a demo’s expert.
“Wait. There.” He pointed to the front gate.
Clay didn’t know what he waiting for but the guards started shooting at something. That something was a tank going at full speed. It looked to be at least twenty years old, but it took down the gate with ease and then the hatched open and Cougar popped out, taking out guards.
“Looks like our ride’s here,” Clay said with a laugh and broke from cover, gun blazing.
“Where’d you get a fucking tank?” he asked Pooch when he climbed aboard.
“Army Surplus wasn’t using it. I left them an I.O.U.”

Title: A Lift
Rating: PG
Prompt: Return
Clay was surprised when Pooch walked back into their barracks at Fort Bragg and threw his rucksack against the wall.
“I thought you were going to Springfield.”
“Fucking bus left already.” Pooch kicked violently at one of the bunks, causing it to scrape a few inches across the floor. “I have to wait for tomorrow to get another one. Damn it.”
Clay spent about a second debating and then hopped down from his bunk. “Come on, I’ll drive you.”
“Drive me? I thought you were going to Las Vegas.”
“Vegas will still be there after I drop you off. Grab your gear, soldier.” Clay knew that Pooch had something good with this girl of his, Jolene. He knew how bad it could be after being away for a long time. Vegas and his own plans to get laid could wait.
