Going to write a musical... In Beijing

Mar 13, 2009 16:24

A few weeks ago my agent asked me to come in for an interview with the producers of a new musical based on "some Russian thing".  The company is called Canum Entertainment, and the project is a musical adaptation of a Russian film called The Thief.

When I met with the producers we had a great discussion of the piece, and they seemed interested in using me for the project.  There were a few caveats.

1) I need to write lyrics to existing music by a Russian composer named Vladimir Shayinski.
2) I'd need to come to Beijing for two weeks to work with John (who was there) since he's the bookwriter and producer.

Given that I'm currently without job and sleeping in my parent's den, I said "Sure"

It took about three weeks to get a deal assigned, but it looks like a go and I'll be flying to Beijing sometime next week!

Wish me luck :-)
