The Great Community
So I've been following the electoral politics a bit lately, and even gone to volunteer for the Obama campaign.
What has amazed me is the energy that this campaign has inspired, both online and on the streets.
Here is my hope for the next 4-8 years. Don't let that wane.
Roosevelt had "The New Deal". Kennedy "The New Frontier". Johnson "The Great Society".
So future President Obama. I hope what we see from you is "THE GREAT COMMUNITY"
Keep the website up. Keep sending the text messages and e-mails. Do a weekly blog from the Oval Office.
You began your career as a community organizer. The strength of your campaign has been grounded in that mentality.
Don't let up once you're elected.
Many of us are unemployed or under-employed. We've got the time to give, and a need to do something.
Don't stress that must-see TV will keep us occupied. We can TiVo it or watch it online later.
Use the $5-$25 campaign contribution model to help worthy organizations get funding that they need.
Use the YouTube ads to make us aware of what we can do to make this country and the world better.
We won't always agree with you blindly, there will be many terrible flame wars before all is done.
But please, keep the momentum going to 2016 and beyond.
