A prologue to something!?! A PROLOGUE to something

Quite honestly, I have NO IDEA where Hamish came from. I just couldn't open the story without him being there. I toyed with the idea of making him a widower... but, well, it wouldn't have been unusual for him to wait until his mid-thirties to get married (I assume from Alice's familiarity with him in the movie that they are about the same age... otherwise she'd call him "Lord..." or "Mister..." wouldn't she?) so Hamish is still single. Why does he continue to pursue Alice? Again, I'm not entirely sure. If I write more on this story, that may come out.

There sadness in this story, isn't there? The fear that kept Alice from taking the initiative to find the rabbit hole, Tarrant's choosing to sleep as he waits for her, the laugh lines and crow's feet...

But... I'm kind of interested to see where a blossoming relationship between a mature Alice and Hatter could go... I adore Alice's spunk in this and I want to see a bit more of who this version of the Hatter could be so... yes, perhaps there will be a continuation. Someday.

No, Hamish isn't a spinster by any means. He was actually rather young for his social set in the movie to be proposing, I would say. Just seems like if he wants to be married so badly to continually be turned down, he might consider looking elsewhere.

But then, I'd love to see where you went with any of these characters!

Dude... I have no idea (at the moment) why Hamish keeps asking Alice to marry him. Is she "the one that got away"? Does he truly have feelings for her? Is it the money (and if so, why doesn't he just cozy up to another rich girl)? Questions, questions, questions. I suppose I could still make him a widower and his children LOVE Alice, and Hamish loves his kids and he likes Alice and... it all makes sense to him that way.

After I do a bit of ME writing these next few weeks, we'll see if this goes anywhere. I still have continuations for "On the Threshold of Christmas" floating around... and a new fic Amaranth helped me sort out the plot for... Oh, yes, much to think about when I get tired of (or stuck on) writing ME stuff. (^__~)

Oh, yes. She mentioned that to me and I promptly informed her that she'd overloaded my angst meter and I would need some nice, fluffy smut for a good long while to get back on track. (^__~)

Angst, I love writing it. Not so good with reading it, oddly enough. But we all have our quirks.

Too bad about your dissertation, and here wanderamaranth and I have just unloaded the Big Guns at the Porn Battle. 20,000 words of SMUT. Half today and half tomorrow. Heh heh.
