The first clue that Tarrant had been Up To Something had been when she’d caught him sending a scroll through the small Mamoreal mirror. He’d jumped when she’d called his name. Yes, he’d very clearly jumped and his eyes had been a rather interesting shade of Guilt.
“Writing to Thackery?” she’d asked, off-handedly.
“Er... well, yes, but... it’s

"“What is it?” Alice asks, wondering if her sister had somehow caught Tarrant in between trousers and kilt. And, if so, she really ought to be looking a bit more appreciative of the sight!" *Snorts* Yes, indeed.
The gifts were all perfection. Margaret's little observation about Hamish's walking stick had me in stitches. A Hamish Hat! That pleased me no end. And Hatter's ability to See people, sigh.
"Tarrant’s breath hitches, his throat works, and when he looks up at her his eyes are black. Alice doesn’t doubt that her own mirror his. Black: the Color of Everything.
The feeling is that Intense."
That was an AHHH! Angel Choir kind of moment.
A lot of lovely moments of closure here. Hamish and Margaret even got theirs. Love!

Mally and Thackery surprised me by coming Up to London. It wasn't planned, but I really liked that Helen and Margaret had different experiences with Underlandians and the mirror before Alice and Tarrant left.
I'm so glad there's "closure" in this chapter. I wasn't sure if I managed it or not and, honestly, at this point, OPK has killed me D-E-D, dead! I guess 285 pages (and that's just Book 3!!!) can do that to someone. Gah...
Pardon me whilst I vegetate.

I love the entire opening segment, with Tarrant's Guilty eyes, shouting out his lies, and how Alice tries--but eventually gives up--trying to figure out what he's Up To.
Alice, her hands full with taking care of Tam’s most recent testament to the astounding progress an infant’s digestive system can make, had frowned. “It’s Tarrant, I’m sure. He shouted something about Christmas presents this morning before he dashed out of the room like the ribbon on his hat was on fire.”
This entire paragraph had me in stitches. The diaper changing! The hat ribbon! Both mental pictures were fabulously funny.
wondering if her sister had somehow caught Tarrant in between trousers and kilt. And, if so, she really ought to be looking a bit more appreciative of the sight!Somehow, I don't think Margaret would have been able to even close the door the first time if that's what she saw, let alone open and close it once more just to make sure she was seeing what ( ... )

And doesn't every younger sister want to show off or show up her older sister every once in a while? That's where I think that "She really ought to be looking more appreciative!" bit comes from. Not that Alice really wants to see her sister drool over Tarrant. She just can't help feeling be-pride-ish over her incredibly hot-wonderful-talented man!
*claps excitedly* Yes, yes, that's EXACTLY how I imagined Tarrant, Mally, and Thack would look after Margaret had "caught" them! LOL!!
As people in Underland can live for a Very Long Time, it's entirely possible that Alice never *will* hear the end of it. At least not from Mally!
Hamish... Oh, how I love Hamish. And it's funny because, back in Chapters 9 and 10, I so didn't. But now I do. Unbelievable.

Dude, I could not stop the smile on my face from growing as I read Tarrant’s really bad poor attempt to scramble for an answer. LOL A recipe. *snort*
Alice hates secrets. Of all kinds. General and capitalized ones.
LOL, love it! :D :D
…he dashed out of the room like the ribbon on his hat was on fire.
Bahaha! Hey, I’m glad to see him getting into the Christmas spirit! Good for Hamish! :D :D
I do like Margaret’s little showing of spunk here. LOL
And…hey! What’s wrong with cross stitching? Are you saying only boring people like those stuffy Londoners in the 1870s do that kind of thing? *humph* (I’m kidding. *holds needle and thread protectively*) LOL
Comportment…Another good word, Websters.
…wondering if her sister had somehow caught Tarrant in between trousers and kilt. And, if so, she really ought to be looking a bit more appreciative of the sight!
BAHAHAHA! Epic, Manny, that is so epic.
...she finds herself greeted with the very wide, very guilty stares of her husband, ( ... )

my only question is that I thought Tarrant left his watch behind?
I can't believe how much awesome is Hamish! His father would be so proud. Lady Ascot suitably scandalised. I am sure Ascot would know it had something to do with tarrant and alice.

Yeah, I love Hamish. Like, woah, y'know?
