The last week of full unemployment

Feb 21, 2010 13:00

As you may know, Tuesday sees my return to some semblance of paid work after a year and a half dossing about at uni and job seeking. If i'm honest i'm getting nervous. Difficult really to pin down why exactly, the job itselfsounds ridiculously easy and its only 3 days a week which'll let me continue my writing. I'm guessing i'm worried that it represents giving up on the dream of writing. Silly like, since its a media based job subcontracted by the bbc so it should only look good on any cv, and may even open up new doorways. In a way it probably represents growing up and specifically life planning/mapping more (which ironically terrifies me even more)
Im sure itll be lovely, theres only 12 of us and im hoping for job i can enjoy.

Still thats next week. This week though has been pretty great overall. Got the new albums by two of my favourite angry folk bands, Laura Marling and Frightened Rabbit both at least a month early (one a review copy, one less legally...) and both are rather special. Had a tea and biscuits afternoon with the delightful Steffles McAwesome on thursday which was really cool (yet warm cos the fire was on nice and high)and yesterday a group of us went to Laser Quaser and the pub, which as you can imagine was an all sorts of awesome way to spend a Saturday. Also ended up writing 5 articles for NARC magazine this week, 3 for the mag and 2 for the website, whichll go to print next week.

Next week has a lot to live up to.
