[Going to sleep in her bed and then waking up on a bench was disorienting, but not as disorienting as the place she woke up in ( Read more... )

[If there is something that Zan'nen absolutely can't stand, it's seeing girls cry. At first he tries to convince himself that her crying is not any of his business. This is a friendly place, despite itself. Someone else would take care of the New Feather. In fact, he gets pretty close to believing that this time, too. He actually manages to turn and keep walking.

But, not three steps later, he halts. No, he has too much of a conscience for this. With a mental groan, Zan'nen abruptly switches direction and comes to kneel at her bench, trying to catch her eye. But when he speaks, it comes out a bit too gruff to sound friendly.] Hey... are you alright? [No, obviously not. But what the hell else was he supposed to say?]

[A gruff sounding voice was both familiar and slightly startling (which really was contradictory, but she hadn't expected anyone to talk to her). Nill jumps slightly, shoulders curling inwards and wings pointing straight back in apprehension. His manner of speaking reminded her a little of Haine, though past that she was still nervous. She'd just woken up in a strange place and this man was talking to her and asking if she was alright.]

[Well, physically she was. And it was only polite to respond. Nill's eyes flick briefly down to her knees, then she nods slightly at the man. Though the slight shaking in her shoulders and misty eyes denote that while she isn't injured, she's still scared and by herself.]

[Zan'nen winces slightly as she jumps. He sure had a bad habit of scaring people unnecessarily, didn't he? He noted her nod, but he had also noticed that she was shivering, and really, she still looked like she was just on the verge of tears. She may have been physically alright, but beyond that...

He sighed slightly, reaching backwards to scratch the back of his head. Zan'nen got to his feet, quickly debating whether he should throw her his jacket.] You must be cold out here. I can show you where to find something else to wear, if you want. It doesn't cost anything around here.

[She is cold, now that he mentions it... This dress isn't much better than what her old owner used to dress her in. At least it has a longer skirt, though.]

[Though what this man is going to suggest she wear, she isn't sure. And really, does she want to find out...? It could be worse than the lolita dresses.]

[However she doesn't have anything else to do except sit here and be scared. She'd much rather be scared with someone else. And warmer. Nill stands up and reaches to take the other man's hand--she'll follow where he leads.]

[Zan'nen blinks at her hand for a moment, but returns her grip, trying to be somewhat reassuring. His manners were a bit rusty. Before they get going however, Zan'nen reaches down and picks up her journal.] This is yours. Everyone gets one. It's how everyone communicates around here, so you'll probably need it later.

[After handing it off to her, Zan'nen leads her through the square to the Clothing Shop, trying to move as quickly as possible without making it hard for her to keep up with him. She was barefoot, and there was still snow on the ground. Getting her to at least some sort of shelter quickly seemed the best idea.]

[Nill looks curiously at the journal, wondering how everyone is able to communicate via the journals (everyone can talk, right...?) before she's pulled along. She follows readily, looking around while she follows the man to the shop and trying to take in the sights.]

[Once they get to the shop proper, she looks into it hesitantly. All of this was free? But everything cost money, how was the clothing free?]

[She picks out a rather hideous looking pair of hot pink overalls. ...maybe this is why it's all free.]

[Zan'nen sees her expression, and does a soft little sigh.] Yeah, you... might have to dig a little harder. But some of your own clothes should be here somewhere.

[Some of her own things? Really? ...does she really want to find those is the better question. But even so, she has to wear something, and if some of these clothes belong to other people, she doesn't want to take them.]

[She continues to go through the clothes, finally finding one of her own dresses. Well, even if it's really lacy and a little embarrassing, it's warmer than what she has now.]

[Once she's found one of her outfits, she starts stumbling on the rest: lolita dress after lolita dress. Mostly black and white, though there are some pastel-colored ones. Despite the different styles though, each one either has a lower-cut back, or holes already cut and (poorly) hemmed for her wings. This doesn't seem to bother her though--they've always been like that.]

[She finally comes away with a (large) pile of these dresses, and starts looking around for someone to tell her she can leave with them. Does she really just... walk out with all of this...?]

[Zan'nen patiently follows as she digs, but well, he can't help but notice something lacking in the dresses themselves. It was nice that she found her clothes, that is, but none of them, absolutely none of them looked like proper winter wear. So while she was engrossed in her search, Zan'nen disappeared and came back with black mittens, a long black coat her size, and a fuzzy white scarf. (You... can definitely see his color preferences shining through here.)]

[When he returns however, and sees how absolutely large her little pile had become, he had to bite back an irritated sigh. He hadn't expected her to come away with her entire wardrobe. He yanks a cloth bag somewhere out of one of the clothing piles and thrust it towards her.] ... Do you even have a place to put all that yet?

[Nill doesn't even notice him walking off, she's so intent on trying to hide how embarrassing her wardrobe from home is. Why the Bishop liked all of this, Nill didn't know. Whenever she showed Haine something new the gunman always got this really strange look on his face--like he was trying not to be mad. Maybe he didn't like Nill wearing black. It was a sort of depressing color...]

[When he comes back with the coat, scarf, and mittens though, she realizes that yes, she has nothing warm and no, she doesn't have a place to put it all. Oh... she hadn't thought of that. She just thought she had to get all of her clothing (and there was quite a bit... almost a different dress for every day of the month). She blushes, embarrassed, and hurriedly starts hanging everything back up, feathers ruffling as she tries not to make the man wait for her.]

[She does put one outfit (with long sleeves) into the bag, so she can wear it out the next day, then returns to standing next to him, eyes on the floor--sorry I took so long...]
