Guy would probably have turned out more awkward, less trying to be tough. He still wants to be "tough", considering the original event happened before his mom died, but because she's alive he'd have less of a reason to really really try hard about it. A lot of issues he has probably wouldn't be there either; his relationship with his dad wouldn't be so lol emotionally retarded, and he might have been able to resolve the tension between him and his sister. He'd still have his pride, but it wouldn't be an actual serious issue, just...him being stubborn and wanting to keep a certain standard for himself.

But the awkward bit. It'd never leave him because he's been that way since he was little. The difference was that back then it was painfully obvious and now he tries to cover it up. If his mom was alive in some ways he'd be both more and less awkward. He probably would be less stubborn about wanting to express himself properly, but at the same time still fail at actually doing it right. Paradox? What paradox?

tl;dr Guy would have turned out nicer. Slightly, at least.
