rantage part 1
Ok so I have no idea if you knew that I’ve been OBSESSED with the Arthurian legends since I was about 5 and I got a book for christmas. so be warned. I shall spam lj with not only football talk (ooooh get milan 2nd on the table) but you will also be getting huge amounts of crap-amy-loves-but-you-don't-care-about in the shape of Merlin.
Whats wrong with the BBC’s shiny new Merlin program.
1. Arthur did not know that he was Uther’s son - hence the sword in the stone and Arthur pulling it out.
2. Uther was also NOT married to Igraine at the time of Arthur’s conception. He slept with her while she was married to the Duke of Cornwall and he was in disguise (thanks to Merlin) as the Duke who is then killed and she marries Uther. She already has several daughter inc. Morgana.
3. Merlin was MUCH older than Arthur, like grandfather-y Gaius-y aged. NOT younger than him as I guess he’s supposed to be in this.
4. Gwen was not a blacksmith’s daughter’s handmaid she was the daughter of King Leodegrance and therefore a Princess.
5. Lancelot was a Knight and the son of a King so sort of a prince, not a peasant boy.
6. Morgana is not Uther’s ward - she is his wife’s daughter with the Duke of Cornwall and therefore Arthur’s older half sister. She is a sorceress who is better known as Morgan le Fay, and tricks Arthur into sleeping with her and she then gives birth to Mordred.
7. Mordred then is not a druid boy but Arthur and Morgana’s incestuous son. Who will kill Arthur at the Battle of Camlann.
8. Nimueh should:
a. be good
b. live in the lake being Lady of the Lake and all that
c. give Merlin Excalibur
d. learn her magic from Merlin who falls in love with her and she traps him in a rock.
9. Camelot - Arthur’s city. Not Uther’s or before Uther’s.
Thats all I can think of right now but I’m sure there will be much more I find to bitch about before the end.
