I've been using Windows XP on my second desktop, at home, for a while. Was looking at various RSS/Atom Readers available, and here are some of them...
(Read More for the screenshots...)
- RSS Owl
Sleek UI. I may have missed it, but couldn't find a away to list all new items in a single window. Which means I need to click at each and every source in the left-side pane to view the details. The mechanism for opening new links inside RSSOwl itself is good. Has an option for external browser (FireFox...) to be used instead of the default IE.
- Sauce Reader
MS Outlook-like UI. You can view new items in the parent folder, or in individual subfolders (which is nice.) Nice thing for users familiar with the UI. The software is not free-of-cost, though. Current time-limited Betas are downloadable freely. Oh, and Task Manager just showed SauceReader consuming 99% of CPU Resources all of a sudden.
- BlogBridge
Java Web Start based application. Nice, easy-to-read article text style. Again, couldn't find an option to view all new feeds from various subcategories at once. The default selection of feeds seems a bit limited (as compared to what, for example, RSSOwl offers.) Has a nice account registration facility, which helps you to sync all your items from home/office/whichever PC.
BlogBridge comes closest to having a nice, comfortable UI.
I couldn't find the facility to bookmark individual news items for future reference, in any of these. Does anyone know any RSS reader that allows you to do that?
