Canon Background: A very cheerful and easygoing person, his ever present smile and closed eyes give him a calm appearance. However when excited or provoked his blue eyes are revealed. The tensai, or genius, of the tennis courts always seems to be relaxed and in control of the situations in front of him. Fuji is a third year at Seishun Gakuen and normally takes Singles 2 when the tennis team is facing another.
Fuji's ability on the court makes it hard for him to find an opponent he can acknowledge. There are only four whom he has faced that can give him that kind of challenge, two are fellow teammates and the others from rival schools. Another way to get Fuji serious is to injure or place those he loves in danger where he becomes very protective. The tensai does not get angry at his own injuries but when others are hurt he does not hold back. Only one person has felt the anger that Fuji can unleash and that would be the demon-child of Rikkai Dai, Kirihara Akaya.
He has rather odd past times with one of those being collecting cacti. Another being a normal sort of hobby, photography. Fuji also has a rather odd sense of taste and is very fond of wasabi rolls, honey-mustard and horse radishes. He is one of the few on the team that can withstand Inui Sadaharu's various drinks with the exception of Aozu, blue vinegar and cod liver oil.
Like the rest of the moves in Prince of Tennis, his skills in the sport defy the laws of physics. Originally the holder of the Triple Counters Fuji was forced through opponents on the court to evolve his tennis. He still refers to his moves as the Triple Counters although their numbers are now six. [For the sake of having them here: Tsubame Gaeshi (Swallow Return), Higuma Otoshi (Bear Drop), Hakugei (White Whale), Kagerou Zutsumi (Dragonfly Illusion), Houou Gaeshi (Phoenix Return; upgraded Tsubame Gaeshi), Kirin Otoshi (Kirin Drop; upgraded Higuma Otoshi), Hakuryu (White Dragon; upgraded Hakugei), Hecatroncheires no Moban (Gate Keeper of Hecatroncheires), and Hoshi Hanabi (Star Fireworks).]
Nightmare-verse Background: Does not differ much from his canon-background except his tennis is more realistic and other than his family members has no connection to the other characters of Prince of Tennis. Middle child of three Fuji adores his older sister Yumiko and younger brother Yuuta, whom he has a rather shaky relationship with. This results from an over-protective presence Fuji gave off during their years in elementary school where both participated in tennis and Fuji excelled. Yuuta, tired of being in his elder brother's shadow started avoiding him and eventually transfered schools to escape the comparison and being called 'Fuji Syuusuke's little brother'. Hurt by this Fuji decided it would be wise to allow space and decided to take up the transfer to Hypnos High.
Dream Form: Unfortunately for him Fuji resembles himself from head to toe in black and white, his blue eyes and the beads the only things of color; Fuji is joined with his racket and a tennis ball that always seems to return. Only in the Dreaming Class do the moves from canon emerge and he uses them in defense rarely. Most of the time he'll pull more of a weak and frail character, choosing to fool his opponents until he is in a more advantageous position.

Awards and Activities: One of the top performers in each of his classes, the tensai-titles does not just reflect his abilities on the court but the classroom as well.
