[ so Dungeons and Dragons didn't quite work out. of course, he'd never tried playing the human version before, but even while trying to take it seriously, and before they'd gotten one or two coolers involved, it was only a matter of time before they started treating it more like Monopoly with storytelling ( Read more... )

Hey, we can always play Candyland instead. Oh, and I have an Uno deck!

[He's just kinda throwing all these ideas around now; he's definitely more chatty, even though this is only his second drink. The whole being stupidly comfortable with each other thing is definitely mutual, especially given how close he is next to the other boy. Not inappropriately so, though! Of course not! He's never inappropriate! Ever!]

Though I'm okay with just hanging out and doing whatever, too.

Candyland?

[ he looks up from chowing down on a piece of cold pizza, a normal one, pepperoni and mushroom, speaking seconds before biting down. ]

Uno?

[ chomp. ]

Yeah! Have you never played those either?

[It's kinda stupid for him to be genuinely surprised by this, but he looks it anyway.]

I don't think so, what are they about? Uhh, I mean, how do you play them? Maybe there's games like them for trolls, only, called something else.

[ likely. everything is Long Name in Alternia. ]

Well Candyland is a board game, and Uno is with cards. Both are super-easy and super-fun.

[He takes a swig of his cooler and pauses, thinking this over.] Though maybe we should wait on that. I think right now, we might just end up flipping the board again.

Hehe.

[ finishes chewing before he really answers--and not because he's polite, either, but because it's easier to make words happen that way. ]

Flipping the board was, actually, more fun that it should have been, considering our progress, of sorts.

[He just kinda breaks out into giggles, grinning wide.] It pretty much was the best part, wasn't it?

[ giggles are contagious, Tavros catches them almost immediately. ]

Yeah, it was! So, heh, I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Heh, all right. [He shifts, trying to get up off the couch.] Oh! {Nope, flopping back down again.] I have a better idea, if you want a really spectacular flip.

[ !! ]

Better than flipping game boards, even? What is it?

[Okay, now he's trying to get up off the couch, hurrying off to the hall closet and bumping into a few things on the way in his haste, returning with one (1) copy of Monopoly. But no, not just Monopoly! It's the Dinosaur Edition.

Yep.

You see the look on his face? It is the face of pure excitement.]

[ once he sees the box, his expression goes from mystified to equally excited. FUCKING DINOSAURS. THOSE ARE THE BEST THINGS TO FLIP (probably)!! ]

Whoaaa, okay, yes, I see what you were meaning about spectacular flips, because this is, definitely, the most qualifiably spectacular thing, uhh, for flipping, that I have ever encountered.

Yeah! I mean, we were pretty much playing Monopoly before, so why not go all the way with it? {He grins wide, happily flopping on the floor across the coffee table from his bro, grinning wide and hastily setting it up.] Plus there's all kinds of money and pieces that will go flying we flip it. It's gonna be awesome.

Legitimately, yes, it will be truly a memorable flip!

[ slides down to join him, although as far as helping goes, he's not really all that useful, since he's just pawing through the dinosaurs in search of his most favorite one. TRICERATOPS? WHERE ARE YOU? ]

[He's already got dibs on the pterodactyl, so he's happy, putting all the various cards in their places. Never mind that the combination of prehistoric creatures with a modern economic concept is completely ridiculous, he loves it anyway, even if they aren't playing it for the sake of playing it.]

You bet it will. [John shoots his companion a dopey grin. Best bro night ever.]

[ FOUND IT. precious three-horned charger, you are mine. he slaps that sucker down at the starting square, glancing up and grinning back as enthusiastically as can be.

and also puts the raptor piece on some random square just to stand watch, because the more there are on the board, the more entertaining it'll be when they flip this bitch. ]

Okay, there, this guy, uhh, he's on patrol, I guess.
