I had a very quiet birthday yesterday - finished up work a little early and took myself off for a haircut drove to meet my parents for dinner. I was running early as the city - northern eastern suburbs was actually rather quiet once I got out of the city. So I decided to head to my parents place instead of the restaurant - where I promptly ran into my sister and my mum who was frantic that I'd ruined her surprise.
My sister's trip down from Mackay was a secret and they'd planned to hide her in the restaurant and bring her out to surprise me. Jokes on them though - I surprised them more. After not having a birthday cake for many a year I actually had two... Work bought me a lemon meringue pie, mum bought the heaviest chocolate mud cake I've ever seen - it weighed a ton.
