I'm reading a hearty amount of children's books this year in order to maintain my hope for the future.
Snail and Slug by Denys Cazet. Nobody else on goodreads seems to pick up that this is OBVIOUSLY a lesbian book. Check it out and let me know. It'll take you 2 minutes to read.
Steve, raised by Wolves by Jared Chapman. Hilarious.
Scar Island by Dan Gemeinhart. A modern Lord of the Flies with great pirate adults.

Where's the Party by Ruth Chan. Oh god, the best one yet, maybe ever. You KNOW these people as giraffes and they might even be you. The Brownstone of the 1800's poster is Amazing. I'm buying this one.
Berlioz the Bear. Best illustrations.
Sad, the dog. One pallet of tissues please.

Honorable Mention: Things too Huge to Fix by Saying Sorry. The grandmother is an excellent role model. I hope to be arrested that many times when I am old. gows would agree.
