Okay, I have no idea how this story came to my mind but it suddenly hit on my way home this evening and in no time it was written down. It's very sweet and fluffy and a bit dorky. Some might even find it strange for obvious reasons XD Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy this =)

Characters: Ianto, Gwen, Jack (slight mention of character death)
A/N: This is a story about Ianto being a "bit" different ;-)
Summary: Ianto is having trouble getting up at his usual early time, the reason being one Jack Harkness and his merciless measuring tape.
Ianto lay stretched out on the sofa, his brown hair tousled, his limbs slightly twitching while his body slowly woke up from the deep slumber he'd been in for the past couple of hours. A ray of light filtering in through the blinds of the living room window hit his face and he wrinkled his nose in response.
He heard Gwen as she left her bedroom and entered the bathroom. It was unusual that she was up earlier than him. He was of the elegant kind, on stand by and perfectly styled by the first light of dawn.
Not today, though.
Last night Captain Jack Harkness had been in the house and when that guy came around Ianto never got enough rest. What was it with that incredibly loud person that he couldn't get his hands off Ianto?! The thought of Jack's insistence when it came to physical attention made Ianto crack a smile.
He heard the toilet flush in the bathroom and knew that Gwen would be coming into the kitchen soon, they always had one cup of excellent coffee together in the morning.
Ianto cracked one blue eye open and scanned the room: empty wine glasses, three wine bottles, two of them empty, the remains of yesterday's take away dinner, a measuring tape.
Ha.
That evil device was Jack's favourite toy when it came to Ianto.
He tried to get rid of the mental images with a shudder and finally sat up on the sofa. Gwen entered the room fully dressed and ready for work when Ianto was just about to stretch his stiff limbs.
"Good morning, darling", she sang in a playful voice. "Have you had breakfast, yet?"
Gwen sat down next to Ianto and ran her hand through his hair.
"Has he been giving you a hard time again last night?" she said with a knowing glance at the measuring tape on the floor.
Ianto squeezed his eyes shut to signalise affirmation. Gwen sighed,
"I don't know what it is with men and their tails, yours surely isn't going to grow any longer."
Ianto decided not to show any reaction to that statement. And he nearly fell off the sofa when Gwen suddenly jumped up.
"Oh, bugger, it's that late already! Sorry, darling, no time for coffee this morning, I have to rush off."
She grabbed her keys from the coffee table and went into the kitchen. Her voice was muffled from the fridge door when she continued speaking into the fridge while picking out various items of food.
"I'll leave you some food, I won't be out too long tonight and Rhys is going to be back from his business trip in the afternoon."
She returned to the sofa to place a tender kiss on the top of Ianto's head. He knew Rhys didn't like it when she did that so these kind of caresses were reserved for when he was away.
"You'll be just fine. I'm sorry I have no time to clean up the mess, I'll do it first thing tonight and then we'll have some quality time together in front of the TV."
She gave him a warm smile and he slowly closed his eyes to return the smile. When he opened his eyes again Gwen was on her way out the front door, the door fell shut behind her and Ianto was alone again.
Alone in this apartment which had been his home since Gwen had rescued him from an empty bag of coffee beans. Someone had put him in there when he was still a tiny kitten, his destiny had been clear: death by drowning. But Gwen had heard his screams, opened the bag and rescued him. He remembered her looking at him deep in thought, taking in his silky brown hair, the big, sad blue eyes and the scent of coffee that still lingered with him.
She still hadn't given him a name when Jack Harkness came by her apartment and noticed the Siamese cat for the first time.
"What a pretty boy you are", he said and picked him up. Blue eyes locked and there was an akward silence while Jack seemed to be looking right into his soul. After a while a tiny smile formed on his lips and he only broke their staring match when Gwen entered the room.
"Does he have a name, yet?" Jack had asked.
"No, I didn't have time to think about that, yet."
Gwen sat down on the sofa and looked up to the pair of them.
"Any suggestions?"
Jack smirked.
"How about 'Ianto'?"
"Jack, that's sick! And besides I would feel bad about having to call his name day in and day out."
Jack shifted so that Gwen could see Ianto (the name at that time undecided) looking at her with his calm, blue gaze.
"Don't you think that name fits him?"
Gwen looked at Ianto until she had that same weird facial expression that Jack just had minutes before when their eyes had met for the first time.
"You're right", she said with a slight smile "Ianto is just the right name for him."
And so he became Ianto. He liked that name, it fit him well. After all, he was of the elegant kind.
